Would you say the msi claw is worth buying now for basic gaming? Or stick with rog ally?

I think it's going to depend on the price. At the original Claw prices, the Z1E Ally is a pretty clear winner - the Z1E has already been through its growing pains and is turning in overall better performance than what I've seen out of my Claw. (The Claw does have some advantages - like not killing your microSD card, Hall sticks, and the ability to add an eGPU that's not that one stupidly expensive ASUS one ... but not enough to make up for that price premium.) However, the math's changed a bit - I got my Ultra 5 Claw for pretty much what the Z1 Ally is selling for new - and the Ultra 5 Claw doesn't have a severe GPU handicap compared to the Ultra 7 like the Z1 Ally does when compared to the Z1E. At the lowered price, the Claw is looking pretty good, and I've been happy with the purchase. TLDR - If Claw is similar price to Z1E Ally, go Ally. If Claw is similar price to Z1 Ally, go Claw.
