Great Video! Is there anywhere to purchase the 10 tiny screws, 4 holding the plastic fan shroud in place & 3-each holding the cooling fans in place? I accidentally vacuumed up these screws when removing the dust from the heatsink after taking off the plastic fan shroud on my MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G graphics card. Sadly, I have searched in the vacuum sweeper to no avail. :(

No. It was not. That was tight socket with plug stayed there for long time (+high temperatures). So it was very hard to unplug. The socket surrendered faster as you see.

@@elvis00771 I have damaged this cable in this video and i decided not to repair it. It is a RGB LED connector for part of RGB lighting. I removed this lighting. Another RGB connector is for "MSI" logo. You can remove all the RGB lighting and it will not affect the work of GPU.

Bro, what's the thickness of thermal pads in this card? I lost them and need buy new thermal pads.
@funnyarc4 жыл бұрын
In case you are talking about the GPU core and not the VRAM or other chips (were you do might want thermal pads, around 3-5mm thickness), you don't need thermal pads on the GPU core, just add thermal paste (after cleaning up the old paste), it will help better for transferring heat. Make sure not to add to much though (as much surface and thin layer is good), and try not make a mess cause cleaning is annoying obviously, it's basically similar to applying to CPU, except a smaller surface. Gelid GC-Extreme is one i always use and work pretty well, but any other good quality paste is fine. Oh and in case you see these metal paste being recommended, Do Not use it, that paste is conductive and if you make a mistake or it somehow touches a chip, your card will become damaged, it can also corrode/eat your heatsink over time (Galium loves Aluminium to death), the benefit maybe a really tiny bit better transfer, but there are better ways for bringing down heat of the GPU.
@Veagence1002 жыл бұрын
@@funnyarc thermal pads are only used for Vram anyway are you describing the Vram thermal pads thickness? You are stating the GPU core...
@funnyarc2 жыл бұрын
@@Veagence100 Yeh, i was talking about the GPU core, was just being cautious for this person, in case he had some idea to use thermal pads on the core instead of paste, since people using GTX 1060 often don't replace the pads on the VRAM, as the VRAM doesn't get that hot and thus doesn't dry out as fast, unless of course this person actually meant he lost the pads when opening his card. And then thought if he went from thermal pad to something else, let me warn in advance to be careful with some people's favorite recommendations, liquid metal.
@Veagence1002 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would just buy a pack of different store thermal pads on Amazon and compare and contrast the thickness for new pad and the old. That's what I did
