I’ve been waiting for a review of this laptop! Thank you! I’m looking into buying it, but my main concern are the USB-A ports. They’re listed as USB-A 2.0 ports on their website. Can you confirm this? Im hoping they made a typo and that theyre really 3.0!

Thanks for catching that. Upon double checking, the ports do seem like USB 2.0. You can always have better speed with the USB-C though. It's weird as I do see the spec on the website as 3.2

Just got my "15.6 today for only $549. My first laptop ever. Love it! However it is using the Intel Core i5 10th gen and 8gb ram(which can be upgraded). So far I'm really pleased with the construction and everything else. Great piece of kit for an entry level MSI. Thanks for the upload.

great video! I'm a MSI fanboy as well! You're getting really good at these unboxing videos! I like the zoom-in close up ports twist. With 16GB ram, this thing could handle more than the average user. Should test some gaming maybe. Great specs for $1000. So many choices out there and MSI doesn't even show up in google search of best budget student laptops 2020. Maybe there's a niche market for budget architecture students. lol. If you factor in all subscriptions, apps, and peripherals, then it's closer to $1600.

Nice one, i have msi a10m with same specs except ram, on this laptop i dont personally like pwr btn position, usb 2 as from some comments here, lack of usb c next to usb a and u have to open it to have maximum airflow possible, giving thumb up

It is a different looking model. I don't like the fact that it has a GPU though. You can often benefit not having one as it will be more power efficient. Although, until I can yest myself, I can't say for sure.

I’m an IT student... 😌 I bought the Modern 15 (i7) a few months ago.... AND I’M LOVING IT SO FAR!😌🤗 My workflow includes using Photoshop, Lightroom for photo editing... Sony Vegas for video editing... A bit (I mean a lot) of coding..😬 streaming, and other productivity work (like word processing and so on...) I love the lightweight, and durability it offers! ✨ Awesome review!🙌

Hi! Great review. I've just bought this laptop. This device costs 799€ in Spain (Idk in the rest of Europe), which means it is quite cheap. I was looking for a light laptop but also with a powerful processor (I've bought the Ryzen 4700U version), I think it will fulfil my expectations because I don't need a graphics-dedicated version. Most laptops come with an average webcam, so you shouldn't have any expectations. Your phone/tablet or a separate webcam, are much better.

As I don't have a measuring device, I have to go with what manufacturers say. But in my own comparison, the colors looked pretty good.

@@youngkobe9663 Where are you finding this information? All I can find on MSI's site is that it's 72% NTSC. On laptopmag I found a review of the AMD Ryzen version which states it's only 51 SRGB! :( Obviously, that would mean it's not amazing. 72% SRGB usually means something more equivalent to 90% SRGB, no? I guess it doesn't really work that way but figured it would be better than 64% for the Intel model

I understand that designing a new motherboard is hard, *but if it's going to not have a discrete GPU, then AMD should be the way* . *Intel UHD and Intel Iris Plus isn't good enough* , the Intel Xe is enough, but it's from the 11th gen.

I hope this is not leading into a big discussion. Simply put, I like where AMD is going these days. I am fine with Intel cards as it is tried and confirmed solutions. Stability is a big thing in laptops as they deal with a lot of heat and power. But if companies are pushing for AMD more due to demand or cost, only it will be great for customers as we now have options. :)

@@harrisonpearce I have the same specs on my pc though my pc will run better than a laptop it runs amazingly well with optifine and low settings on I can get up to 200 fps after downloading more stuff on my pc I got 90-170 fps so I would say it should be the around the same for the laptop. (Edit i have an i3 10100 so it’ll actually run better way better actually definitely over 200 FPS)

I have not tried a10M. The hinge case is plastic, but the movement was solid, feeling metalic.

I....just bought this, and find the speakers quite terrible! Did you find the speakers very..tinny, with lots of clipping/buzzing/staticy ?! (almost like the gain is always too high, except the speakers are actually very soft even at 100!)

@@myd3b124 I didn't end up getting it but I'm actually now considering another option, the dell vostro 15 7500 which has serious good specs for it's price and is better value than the msi imo. It has a dedicated GTX 1650 ti so it should be able to easily handle a lot of cad programs.
