Bought the MSi Prestige 15 based on your 1st video about it regarding 10th Gen Intel, could not be happier with it. The only thing I wish I had the 4K screen as it is brighter than the 1080p but was not and is still not available in South East Asia/Malaysia/Singapore, but other than that I could not be happier. The battery lasting 9+ hours has been the best thing with it rarely getting hot. The HDMI port when connected for long overheats that side of the port, but other than that thank you for your reviews and tell MSI that people buy after seeing your reviews, they should know, to always keep in contact with you and sending you Laptops Warm regards and thanks for your hard work

The battery life, apart from size difference, can also be because of the 4k panel on the 14 and 1080 on the 15

I doubt it would make a real meaningful difference, regardless of 4K or 1080p screen, the majority of the power I believe is the backlight which lights up the same regardless of displayed resolution. Maybe if I was doing something GPU intensive it would matter more, but I test the game at 1080p, and otherwise just watch a KZbin video which wasn't played at 4K.

Watching this on my MSI Prestige 15. It's been a month since I got it and I love it. Got the 1080p version but strangely got 16GB ram on single channel which is great because I can just buy another 16GB stick if I need the upgrade. Also tried to undervolt it by -0.125 but it crashed my game so I changed it to -0.1 and now it works fine. Planning to buy another ssd (Adata sx8200 pro) and dual boot with ubuntu, just waiting for new LTS version next month.

@@CoverPlays I use software called ThrottleStop and follow the guide here kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3_Xan9pd7yCfNE I don't think its necessary. But I think it will help make the hardware's lifespan longer because of the cooler temp.

Perfectly Balanced The G14 is using a low wattage 2060 Max Q, which is virtually unheard of (2060 in max-q) in gaming laptops. No way can it have a 2070, or a 2080 without making the base much thicker. It’s already going to thermal throttle hard when it releases with its wimpy 2060 max-q.

@@KC-bg1th yeah except 2060 max q doesn't exist, so I assume it's just a normal 2060 with cut wattage. Keep in mind max q cards have different, more efficient voltage regulators which help with with efficiency a little, so I wish they just put a 1660 ti max q in there instead, it would be cheaper than a 2060 too.

I'm typing this from a 15 version rn and I am super happy I didn't end up with a 14' one. The weight is still fantastic and the laptop does not at all feel big. Screen bezels are thin as well so it is portable and to me doesn't make a difference

Got the Prestige 15 with 4k screen earlier this year and been loving it. Definitely loving those 10th gen cpu for the low power needs. Runs about 4 hour of photoshop editing plus 4 hours of browsing with no problem on a single charge. Almost went for the 14 for its better portability and "seemingly same spec", after hearing it will throttle hard due to lack of cooling, went for the 15. At the time I bought it, each models with the same specs offsets just about $100, with the 15 being $100 more expensive. The only problem I had so far is due to I got my own usbc cable and charger for even better portability, but it interfere with 2.4 ghz wifi, so I had to manually set my wifi setting to force my laptop only connects to 5.0 ghz wifi.

It sticks out a little, maybe a couple mm, probably required so you can push it in to click it out, otherwise you don't really have a way of getting it out, it's minor though. Yeah the temperatures in that Aero are on the higher side, they made some nice improvements with the newer model - I have the 15x which uses the same hotter design as the X9. I have no personal experience with Liquid Metal, probably better checking a channel like bob of all trades for some guidance there. That said I did read about some people who tried LM on the 15X and saw basically no change, it seemed like the bottleneck may have been the heatpipes/sinks which are on the smaller side compared to the thermal interface material.

@@JarrodsTech 100% confirmed. changed paste to LM, evened out the torque on the screws for proper contact, then did hours of undervolting and boost wattage adjustments. undervolting helped a little, but what made the only real difference was adjusting boost TDP. it hurts clocks but it keeps it from hitting 90c so fast

It is not, I have never compared them on the channel. Also I contacted MSI to know if they were planning on releasing a more efficient Prestige 14 - they did mention _''We won't be releasing a new Prestige series until Q2 (April)''_ so there are new models coming very soon, but they didn't offer specifics. It is possible they'll be the same P14 and P15 but with slightly different configurations rather than fully new devices. But only 2 months! I'll wait 😁

Hi, do you know something about the new Prestige 15 A11SC coming by Nov? It is pretty much the same with the A10SC 2K monitor variant but it will equip with i7-1185-G7 CPU, which supports thunderbolt 4 and PCIe gen4 and maybe a little bit faster. However the price maybe US$300 more expensive than the current price of Prestige 15 A10SC with reference to the pre-sale price in Hong Kong. I am struggling whether it is worth waiting for the new version or just go for the old one.

Thermal throttling is the reason why the performance is not good. The cooling should be better, even in smaller laptops

Indeed, especially when the smaller Blade Stealth 13" can outperform the 14" - BUT to be fair it does also weigh more despite being smaller, maybe MSI wanted to prioritize the lighter weight with this model.

I was talking about M.2 slots for storage there, the 14 has 1 and the 15 has 2. For RAM you can see the 15 has 2 slots, the 14 has 0 as it's soldered to the board.

I'm making an i7-9750H vs 3750H comparison right now, and the i7 demolishes it. Even a last gen i5 beats the 3750H, plus the Helios is undervolted out of the box, so yeah will do much better.

Prestige 15 probably, still lightweight but good CPU power and screen. Dell XPS 15 maybe, but I have a video comparing them and given the better CPU power in the Prestige it would probably do better for Premiere unless you want OLED.

I have my msi prestige 15 2 days now. I played dying light on low settings but my fans just hit up and my laptop get so hot that it hurts when you try to feel it. My battery only last for a hour and max 3 with only yt or netflix. Does anyone know if this is normal or if i can fix it ??

Save your money, don't buy MSI if you don't want to regret. I experienced already especially the prestige 15 models. SUCK service and battery.

Prestige 15 has good battery life from my own testing, what were you running on it? Can't speak to service.

I just turn on the notebook and monitor the battery drains. Even I don't run anything, battery could last only less than 3hrs and still no solution from service centre.

Honestly not too much, in most cases the specs can be the same. With these laptops the software is a bit different, the gaming ones have profiles that modify settings of games where is the creator ones have profiles to offer performance improvements to software like Photoshop. It's also an aesthetic thing, a lot of the gaming laptops have RGB keyboards while Prestige is white only. gaming laptops generally have higher refresh rate screens while creator laptops might have lower refresh rate but higher colour gamut

I honestly don't get why you would get the 14 lol. ints only an inch difference, you wont notice it. 4k on a 14inch panel. doesn't make a difference. Tbh, I would say a 23inch is the minimum screen size you would see 4K clearly. 4k on either model just isn't worth it to be honest. If they have a quality 1080p panel, say for example 95% SRGB, 80% NTSC, with 350-400nits, then that would be a amazing. Anyway, no matter what config you're getting for the 14, you really shouldn't get it!

I get it, I recently spent more money to get a lower powered 12.5" machine when I could have paid less to get a 13.3" with better specs - the priority was smaller size and lower weight at ALL costs, so for me the trade off was worthwhile.

Don't buy the UHD version. It's has awefull color banding in sRGB. Promoted as laptops for creative and graphics, it's impossible to use for color critique work. So bad, so sad... I'm stuck with the laptop. True color is useless as it doesn't even work with newer intel drivers or you are stuck with oversaturated colors. You need to tweak registry to get a feature back so that True Color works in sRGB (with awefull banding). Funny no-one mentions this.
