I guess you have not followed the pro scene, or played brood war in quite a while. The scarce recourse is gas. You cannot replace vultures with wraiths as they cost more than 1000000000000000000000000% more gas. Vultures are expendable, as you have so much minerals to spare anyways. His army structure was NOT "a little of everything". He got factory units only, working towards a fully upgraded metal army, considered by most to be the strongest army in the game.

So what should he have done? Remember, this is well before Flash's way to deal with carriers. Look at the map abuse by protoss, how he used his hybrid force to avoid fights all game. This is a top 100 replay for that reason. Nada (one of the best terrans of all time) just could not counter 5 carriers.

I guess you are talking about the cloaked wraiths he would die getting? Good idea, works unless you die getting them. Kingdom's main army was ground most of the game. Getting enough wraiths to kill the carriers would have him killed.

How many goliath died? Killed by goons , zealots,and worst by the narrow corridor when they tried to move. With 10 wraith or maybe some ghost/lock it would have been GG for Nada.In any case it was stupid to try to counter carriers with goliath on this map.

Yes and no. Protoss was very low on scouts - so there was a chance, never exploiuted in this game, to make a try with wraiths not that big quantity.

He could have spared a little on marines and vultures. They were not that important. His army structure was 'a little of everything' without dcisive shift into killing technology. Now all of them: marines, vultures are vulnerable to mass dragoon or mass carrier unless there are so manyu vuiltures you mine everythign around. This is a little too much asking to getting beaten by late protoss. Look at those vulture vs draagoon shellings across the bridge. Waste!
