For me not metioned but Jo from facts of life. She disliked the rich and didnt trust them. Had a temper yet had a heart to fix things. She didnt stick to "girly" things but challenged stereotypes. As a guy i can relate as i have much respect for strong women. I also am not your typical guy who loves fishing and hunting or knows every score stat in football, nor do i care about cars. So i get that "i dont wanna have a label" thing. Personality wise she and i are alot alike. We are both sassy as well.

What is problematic in these films is the fact that the happy ending often means the girl conforms to gender expectations, when the right thing is to show that people are valuable, important and good just the way they are. For me, the most relatable movie today is the Spiderman Trilogy, with friends Peter Parker, MJ and Ned.

I know it’s not a movie but victor from love victor is so relatable and even more so than Simon cause he’s from a more realistic middle class family and has to deal with his sexuality in a very different setting. No hate for Simon it’s/ he is also great but it’s easily a more acceptable story by being a wealthier white guy.

For me , I can most definitely relate to Mia Thermopolis from the princess Diaries . Like Mia , I am a bit clumzy , wasn't well liked in school and and bullied and teased even humilated just like Mia Thermopolis was too in the first Princess diaries and even the second princess Diaries [ and both movies are my favorites ] but Mia Thermopolis is me all the way ,Mia was a artist , a role model and and very pretty and even she had keep secrets from her friends[ being a princess] and then she accepts the crown and became princess of Genova with her grandmother at her side as her mentor and eventually became a bigger role model to me . I think being relatable Mia is amazing for me .

The honorable mentions all should've been on this list and it should've been a top 20 instead. The most relatable characters for me were Mia, Olive, Cady, Charlie and Gabiella. But I always find myself disappointed about the fact Gabriella was this shy introvert in the first movie and after scoring the musical, she isn't that same person anymore. There's pluses to her character arc, but for me... I always feel like I'm painfully shy and no matter how old I get, that hasn't changed. And a shy character shouldn't always have to overcome their shyness to have growth. Then with Charlie, I was on the same page with him until they revealed his various issues resulted from his aunt molesting him. I'd seen this in a few other works. I can only pinpoint my shyness originating from no one asking me to hang out with them in elementary school so for years, I was too afraid to try making the first move because the rejection feels worse than being alone. I wish so badly I can overcome that, but I also don't want to change how I am just to fit in.
