I always love hidden meanings, and Stephen Schwartz certainly did a fantastic job at weaving in hidden references to the themes of the story, which you might not notice on a first listen.

One line that had me perking up like a meerkat, was when Elphaba met Fiyero for the first time and told him "Get stuffed" 0v0
@Hannah_Riddle4 сағат бұрын
Right!😂 Like... Who wants to tell Elphie that Fiyero actually does technically 'get stuffed'... because of her😅

I've seen the movie now twice and I want to keep seeing it because it is brilliant in my opinion. But every new time I listen or watch, I catch even more hidden things or easter eggs or foreshadowing. It does such a great job at putting those little hints in there that you don't catch at first until you listen or watch multiple times. Like Elphaba's line in "The Wizard and I" about being so happy she'd melt or the "get stuffed" comment to Fiero when she first meets him.

If you listen to the song “Sentimental Man” you need to pay attention to what the wizard is singing as that’s a dead giveaway to the parentage of Elphaba’s biological father. 👂 👀

Part of why I think that reference to the catfight exists in part 1 is because I expect that’ll be one of the scenes that gets the MOST revamped in part 2. It works on stage but it is so stagey in terms of cadence with call and response for audience laughter in what is actually a very serious plot beat. I suspect we’ll get a heavily modified version and so this homage to the cat fight choreography is left in here because it may not be there in part 2

I love that scene. I hope they keep it or if they change it do something that takes after it

I was unaware of Kristen Chenoweth's arm movements in the original Wicked. I assumed Ariana's pose was from Evita, especially since I noticed other musical references throughout the movie. Although it's possible that Kristen was giving a nod to Evita in her performance.

I don’t know if you mentioned this already but during the train scene you can hear a little bit of Thank Goodness as Galinda changes her name. I caught that immediately the first time I watched it

I love the fact that Adam Garcia (Coyote Ugly) who played Fiyero in the UK stage production did the scarecrow moves first in his production, it was hilarious and not many people picked it up!

No. Even in the 1939 MGM film, where he claimed to be from Kansas, his getaway balloon read "Ohama" (as in, the County Fair in Ohama, Nebraska; Thankfully, Nebraska is just above Kansas gepgrahically speaking).

The video "Top 10 Most Clever Details & Lyrics in Wicked" offers a deep and engaging analysis for fans of both Wicked and The Wizard of Oz. Its content is well-structured, presenting intriguing and surprising insights into how the musical connects with the classic 1939 film. The highlights on music, lyrics, and cinematic choices emphasize the creativity of the production team, making viewers appreciate the work even more. Focusing on small details, such as Ariana Grande’s homage to Kristen Chenoweth’s style or the Easter Eggs related to “Over the Rainbow,” is a standout feature of the video. Additionally, the respect shown for the original actors and musicians is heartfelt and touching. The video fosters a sense of appreciation for the art and encourages viewers to delve deeper into the musical. However, the video might feel a bit complex for those unfamiliar with Wicked or The Wizard of Oz. For new audiences, the lack of context could make some details harder to follow. Nonetheless, it remains a captivating and worthwhile video, especially for musical theater enthusiasts.
