Hi. Love the channel. It really helped me grow to understand Power Bi and I often come back here to rewatch videos and find new things whenever I do. I ran into a problem using what I learned in this video, and I think what I learned from the experience is quite instructive about how power bi query and transform functions. supplychaindatascientistcom.wordpress.com/2020/12/10/why-is-my-power-bi-query-so-slow-a-query-is-not-a-table/

Thank you Mike - this one is amazing! I learn so much of PQ in this video, I wish I have watched it earlier! Many thanks for your great efforts to make these videos, many things in Power Query starts to make sense to me after watching this one. I found myself getting lazier nowadays, instead of writing those great formulas (especially ones involves array formulas and many complex and long formulas which no one else can read) I am now using Power Query to solve. I can make a copy of the file, delete all the power queries to deliver just the results, and no one knows how I make the magic happen! Now I use the time saved to watch even more ExcelIsFun videos!

Another great video! Thanks so much for this. I definitely learnt a lot watching this. One thing to note about lookup (projection & selection) that I noticed while working on a project is that it's performance isn't ideal over a large dataset. I think most Excel users would be tempted to use lookup to mimic index & match in vanilla Excel. While it could get you the results you'd need, Merging queries (joins) would perform better.

Yes, this is one you will have to watch and take notes, then do it again. I should have broken the video up intro multiple videos, but I sort of wanted to have all this M Code Basics and beyond in one viodeo, so it could be a one stop shopping when you needed a reference video...

Thanks, Mike, it's my honor that you have subbed to my Channel, what books you would recommend for Power Query apart from Ken/Miguel's books to gain advanced knowledge of M Code? I am already enrolled into Power Query Academy course and waiting for Ken/Miguel's second edition book M for data monkey... what books or courses are best for learning Power Pivot/DAX/Power BI? Btw I have been your subscriber since many years :)
@excelisfun6 жыл бұрын
The books I liked are: Definitive DAX by Russo and Ferrari and Chris Webbs's Power Query book.

Good overview and examples of M code. I usually don't use the remove duplicates feature, because I have run into quite a few issues with Excel deleting information I wanted to keep and keeping information I wanted to delete. Kind of wish there was a way to just flag the duplicates like the old school array formulas and then you can start researching why you have duplicates.
