IamETOH It's a workhorse for sure. I've used it in the Mississippi, a stream in Alabama, and just last week in a Georgia pond. Hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

Any updates, still happy with it, has it leaked or have a broken piston or handle issues there’s a lot of negativity on KZbin, in the market but not pressed to hurry up and buy but would be between this or the katadyn pocket filter, i’ll prefer the MSR but not till they correct up all these issues,

It's still working well. About time for a filter change though. When I first bought it, I noticed since it was plastic it would probably be best not to be in a big hurry pumping it. Even with taking it slowly, it is faster than any other pump I have used in the past.

I think you’re supposed to pump it a bit so water flows through it before attaching it to a bottle

As per the instructions, you are supposed to pump it a few times to sample the taste of the water.

That would not change the flow rate (if that is what you mean) since it attaches only to the plastic on the purifier and bottle.

I haven't had any problems with it leaking. However, it is plastic so I haven't really cranked on the handle.

To you guys touting the Xle Elite, that filter's absolute pore size rating is .4 micron. The MSR Guardian's is .02 microns. It is a disservice to MSR to even mention these two items in comparison.

Just use the activated carbon filter from Katadyn with the MSR...and voilà...well at least for the chemicals :)

It doesn't filter, purify or do anything for any type of industrial or pharmaceutical chemicals or pollutants or radioactive contamination and the Mississippi River is full of all that stuff! 😳😱🤢🤮
