The optimus polaris optifuel does use a canister and you dont need to change jets

Good to know. Thanks for the tip!

I chose the msr because although you don’t have to change jets on the Polaris it does not simmer good with all fuels. On the msr changing the jets is like fine tuning a carburetor for the specific fuel you get a better flame.

I am also picking between Polaris and Whisperlite, but ultimately, I chose the Whisper. Yes, I do not like the idea of changing jets to "fine-tune" the stove; it is just not quite reasonable if the manufacturer claims the stove is a "multifuel," especially for burning the canaster fuel. Traveling with a buddy or a small group might encounter several different fuel types. Mix and match is the big thing for this kind of stove. Doing a jet swap is not quite reasonable in the field, and you might easily lose parts or jet heads if it's cold and your hands are numb and shaking. But the main reason I still chose MSR is because the entire stove is easy to clean (especially after using dirty fuel) and the repair parts are easy to buy around the globe.

I bought the optimus Polaris pump separate. Its about 76 dollars. It has an amazing fine tune valve, and a lindal valve. This paired with tge MSR is I think, incredible. I also bought a whisperlite plain unmarked "G" jet, and drilled it out with 1/32" dremel bit attached to exacto handle, and this allows an added jet to the kit that will burn yellow HEET, grain alcohol, and denatured alcohol. Amazing stove from MSR, amazing pump from Optimus, also, Campingmoon sells adapters, so for a few bucks you can burn 1 lb propane bottles, 2 dollar cheap butane bottles. Everything simmers nicely. Jeebel makes a 1Lb propane adapter to Lindal that has a pressure regulator. I think its about 23 bucks.

The canister used upside down allows the liquid butane to flow liquid instead of the vapors right side up. So that the stove works as intended. Canisters of butane, isobutane and propane are not as volatile as white gas liquid fuels. Gas canisters fail at elevation mainly because it's colder. And colder air affects the density of the fuel which affects the fuel delivery (it chokes/freezes).

Msr say this simmers better than the msr international..cos heat is trapped in the preheating coil so that even at low flame levels there's enough pressure to prevent stove going out..what do you think? Would you be able to do a simmer test?I like using liquid fuel mostly...gas occasionally

What am I missing? Alot of multifuel burners do the gas also.

What are your thoughts on this vs the snowpeak bipod?

Great video, very informative! Some constructive criticism..For the future, maybe try not to repeat to much, and cut it a little shorter and compact :) Thank you for this great review!
