Someone complemented your hair looks like a unit. The irony is... UNITS look like our natural hair. When we realized that units look like our natural hair maybe more black woman will invest the time and energy in their natural hair, it’s literally the bomb...this message was brought to you by team natural ☺️

I'm dealing with this issue right now and it's heartbreaking. I've been natural for 11 years, but I've really spent the past 2 years strengthening and growing my hair. It was so healthy and flourishing. I stayed away from heat and got trims every 4 to 6 months. I've been wearing twistouts, flexirod and roller sets, and wash-n-gos. Then I recently broke down and decided to get a silk press and braids and that was a huge mistake! My hair is severely damaged and breaking off in long strips and clumps. It's frizzy and tangled and completely straight after washing and deep conditioning. It has no bounce, no weight and is completely see-through. My hair is usually 4a/4b but literally looks like type 2a/2b hair or like I have a relaxer. I don't know what to do. There's no way I can even wear a curly afro now. Do I just cut it all off or just leave it alone and let it grow out until I get enough new growth to cut the damaged hair off a little at a time? HELP! 😩😢

Question did you end up cutting it off? My hair is also the same right now and I’m freaking out

@@trinityharris6041 Hi. No, I didn't cut it off. I did a clay mask first and then started using the full collection of Palmers Cocoa Butter Length Retention products (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, curl defining cream and gel). The next week I used the Curlsmith Bond Curl Rehab Salve and the Feather-Light Protein collection to wash, condition and style. I used all of these products until they ran out to stay consistent. I deep condition every week. The best deep conditioners are Dr. Miracle's Hydrating and Strengthening, Eden Body Works Split End Repair Masque, and Eden Body Works Anti-Breakage. These have done wonders for my hair. I always use a heat cap and sometimes leave it on my hair overnight under a plastic cap. I use growth oil and tonic on my scalp, massage my scalp every night and sleep with a silk bonnet and pillowcase. I keep my hair in 2-strand twists and trim my ends at least every other week. I've lost a lot of hair but these products have greatly reduced the shedding, which is giving me the chance to grow it out again. I'm just going to continue this process until all of the damaged hair sheds off, grows out or is trimmed off. My hair already looks much better and has grown a lot since I posted this comment. I still have a lot of damaged hair but I'm able to hide it with the 2-strand twists. I will also try flexirod curls at some point, which I think will hide the damaged hair. I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope this helps you. 😢🙏🏽💕

I literally screenshot. I had an mental breakdown in the shower. I usually wear wigs but I decided to straighten my hair. Then I braided it up (did not wash it) and put my wig on. I had the braids for 3 months and my roots are curly and the rest of my hair is straight after washing. I straight it again today but I’m going to start doing protein treatments , masks, and hot oils treatments

@@seductivecosmetix5851 Yes, this is what's working for me. I'm going to continue this process and grow it out to a medium length bob. I'll get any remaining damaged hair cut off at that point. I'm sorry you're dealing with hair damage and loss. I hope this helps.

My hair is heat damaged and as far as styling I’ve been doing bantu knot outs. I use a leave in and mousse for them and I don’t feel the need to stretch my hair to do them because honestly the hair is already stretched from heat damage.

@@RachelAdina no 1&2 are salon-only products but you can find them online from reputable sellers (eBay) or just go to the salon and pay for a one-time treatment. It's a more concentrated version of olaplex 0&3

Yeah I decided to just rock with the 0 and the 3 since the 1 and the 2 are only in salons but if you say its a lot better than the 0 and the 3 I'll get a treatment when my hair tries to act up again. Sidebar: You're stunning!😍

Can you fully grow out colored damaged hair without cutting it?
@RachelAdina
@RachelAdina Жыл бұрын
The short answer is yes! To elaborate; you can definitely grow out most types of damage but if the degree of damage is severe (for example; heat damaged hair that has become completely straight over time our color treated hair that is dry, unruly, and extremely breakage prone) you may have to do a big chop. For my heat damaged hair I opted for more regular trims where I cut off a little more than usual and before I knew it, the damage was all cut off and my hair was only a few inches shorter than when I started.

@@RachelAdina thats the thing. My dyed colored hair is very frizzy, dry, lifeless, dull and no elasticity. When I noticed this I completely stopped coloring/flatting my hair. I am not as severe like other people where I have stringy ends and my hair is straight. My dyed hair still curls up, no straight ends at all but I can tel the curl pattern is different from my normal pattern also because there is no elasticity. I heard from others that this can be repaired, and others say it can’t be repaired and needs to be cut off. But I’ve transitioned from relaxed to natural before and can definitely grow that hair out. I just don’t know which product that can help. I’ve considered using Olaplex since my dyed hair is dull, dry, no elasticity and frizzy . Im choosing not to big chop it.
