MSS HAS Install Guide for the G80 M3/G82 M4

After installing the MSS HAS kit on our G80 M3 and giving driving impressions we decided to get our technician Aston to show you through the process of how to install the kit.
We had heard a lot of people used our videos as install guides, so thought why not make an actual one!

Same thing I did on my 340i but easier cause on my car I had to take the shock out and compress the springs to take it out and put the new one! Nice video 💪🏼

I noticed you guys don't re-index any of the suspension bolts or replace TTY bolts. Is there a reason you didn't do so?

Great video as usual guys I’m just curious what’s the difference between this set up and the KW HAS system?

You do not need to modify the damper to fit these, meaning quicker install time and much easier to return back to stock. They’re also easier to install, we’ve had a few KW kits come in where someone else has incorrectly installed them and we need to rectify it. Lastly ride comfort and handling is massively better. KW HAS will tend to go slightly lower but MSS limit the lowering amount to preserve the comfort/handling and to not damage the damper.

This is awkward… car also had 15mm spacers fitted.

Great vid as always. One question though - the rear springs don’t look like they were designed to properly use the factory rubber isolators, given the MSS’s are flat-bottomed while the OE springs have a “coil-end” design, which fits into the rubber isolators in a certain way. Are the final versions of the MSS springs taking this into account with an updated design?

As far as we are aware this is a ‘production’ kit for all intents and purposes. We can clarify with them but have seen no issue over the roughly 1000 miles the kit had on before the video. (We removed the kit to then film installation)

Understood and thanks. FWIW I have had experience with kits that use linear-end type springs that the manufacturer also instructed using with factory isolators.... after a year of use, the isolators had become flattened and torn, due to the non-matching surfaces. That kit now comes with new isolators that are flat, which corrected the issue. Hope this is helpful.

No, as shown using the jack and leaving the top mount in the car negates the need for a spring compressor.

Did the front spring adjuster have a locking ring? because wouldn’t it just change position when turning the steering?

No as it has the bearing of the stock top mount at the top. We have driven 1000s of miles on them and not had an issue with them adjusting themselves.

Im gonna be honest doing this kind of work on jack stands vs a lift are two very different things. Using a lift is much easier and less time consuming. Do yourself a favour, If you can afford a car this expensive just take it into a shop and get work done.
