I collect close to 1 gram most days, then smoke it at night while listening to this pod and TAFS on the bus bench i sleep on, it's a good life

Goya is a wild story in and of himself. I saw a gallery of his work in Madrid, organized in chronological order. Bro painted battle scenes and royal portraits, idk what you would call his style but it was all very neat and photographic almost, and as his life went on it got more and more abstract and expressionist. The royal family lost interest in his works and he stopped being commissioned by them. He eventually boarded himself up in his home and began painting these insane twisted murals on the walls inside his home. He never intended them to be seen by anyone, but they were carefully removed from the walls and put on display. The gallery begins some colourful depictions of large battles in green rolling plains, and the final painting is at the opposite end, where the lighting is much dimmer. It’s titled “Saturn devouring his Son” and depicts one of the Greek titans eating his child. It is absolutely chilling.

@@LiterallyGod he also lost alot more than alexander. Because alexander was undefeated. Calling The achaemenid persians "babylonians with sticks" just tells me you need to read some history books. They ruled the Babylonians you fucking idiot. On his great eastern campaign alexander was outnumbered in every battle he fought and a world way from being able to get reinforcements. Then he wiped out the biggest empire in the world, and conquered 2/3 of the world as it was known to him, and his territory still dwarfs imperial France at its xenith. Napolean had 28 marshalls that he split his army amongst and he delegated a ton. Each of those 28 marshalls is worth a read in their own right, one of them became the king of sweeden. Alexander fought every battle from the front, on the right flank cavalry who were the main killing force of his army. Napolean led from so far back he got fat. Napolean is a badass general but you have to understand. Its a competition for second place after alexander the great. Hes not even my favourite one, but his accomplishments in battle dwarf anyone else's. He had conquered all of greece at the age that napolean was promoted a general. He was literally the measuring stick great generals were measured up to.

During the French Revolution the Prussians and austrians monarchies started to get worried about the ideas coming from france so they moved against them. The French responded by mobilizing as much of the population as possible for the army, the levée en masse. It started 20 years of bloodshed that end with napoleon in exile

We don’t hate war. We’ve supplemented it. We “killed that interview”, or “destroyed this or that” it’s how we cope with the fact that it’s “wrong” for us to kill when we’ve been doing it expertly for millennia
@jacksoncothren58312 жыл бұрын
The objective of war isn't as simple as killing the enemy. Contrary to popular belief soldiers don't like killing or dying, the best battle is won without any casualties. Unfortunately we have gotten very proficient at killing. However that too is in order to not have to fight a war through a show of strength.

Monarchy is basically a religious dictatorship Napoleon was bringing democracy and all the kings of Europe saw him as a threat and declared war on him. How he took over was he was the leader of the army and surrounded the royals the king of France and made them sign over the country
