Yeah, I had that same inkling to leave downtown and go to the suburbs small town life. I fucking hate it. I regret it every single day. I now realize my fear was living an ordinary life. Nothing is more ordinary than where I’m at now. No access to hi pain jobs I used to get, no restaurants, no major airport hub for cheap flights, everyone is on fentanyl and meth. Its fun to talk about a yard and a house, but in reality I’ve never felt so isolated.

Ive kinda leaned into the being a piece of shit thing. I lucked out on an investment and just milk that while working at a hardware store. Roll out of bed at 11, fuck around at the home depot from 12 to 8, stay up late doing fun shit. Fuck around with my friends on the weekends. Get my 3 weeks vacation every year, sometimes travel, sometimes just fuck around for 3 weeks. Not the best way to pick up chicks, but theres always a 4 out there who needs a cuddle. Alot less pictures of me around the parents house than my family having siblings, but once you make peace with that your smooth sailing.

If you're still in your mid 20s then I can't knock the lifestyle cuz I've been there (minus the 3 week vacations shit I was a chef so getting any time off was like pulling teeth in the restaurant industry). But yeah live it up while you can, just know at some point you will actually want to start getting your shit together so make little steps of planning now while you've still got some cash and direct some of that motivation towards a slightly more sustainable future. Don't gotta go crazy with getting 401k's or some shit, but take it from me that you'll regret not doing ANY sort of planning ahead once you hit 40. I got hit with some fucked up lifelong illness outta nowhere (crohn's disease) at the height of my glory days and for the last 16 years it's been nothing but struggling so you gotta somewhat be aware that things like that can switch up everything. I had already been through a bad cancer situation at 19 and thought I was done with medical shit but ten years or so later my body wasn't finished with tryna cuck me. Anyway my point is that I relate hard to what you wrote, and I hope you don't make some of the mistakes that I did by not giving yourself even just a small amount of a buffer in case the future throws you a curveball or twelve.
