+john allison John you need to listen to The Earls of Leicester (pronounced Lester). Its a band made up of some of todays best bluegrass musicians including Jerry Douglas. They play nothing but Flatt and Scruggs songs in the original style. They like to say they arent a cover band but a tribute band paying respect to one of the greatest band of musicians ever assembled
@johnallison19429 жыл бұрын
Thank you ,I will do that.
@danielmorris36879 жыл бұрын
john allison Id be interested to know what you think of "Earls of L" John. I hope that I helped spread the word. Its nice to see that roots music is making a strong comeback, especially among younger people. It never hurts to shut off all the electronic technology and embrace some of the older more natural things in life does it.
@johnallison19429 жыл бұрын
Well I am of the older generation and don't think much of the new country and as for all that electronic stuff I am still old school on most of it. Haven't listened to the earls yet but will check them out.Thanks for the message.

I loved watching the Flatt & Scruggs TV show when I was in high school, living on the old family farm with my folks in South Carolina in the mid-60s. Incredible show, with great guests like Doc Watson and Maybelle Carter, and the always impeccable playing of all the band members. Earl was being influenced by his sons at the time to play more current material, which resulted in occasional performances of tunes like Bob Dylan's "Down in the Flood"! I have a soft spot in my heart for the kind of downhome cooking well represented by the commercials here too. Great stuff, and I wish there was something more like it being aired today -- especially reruns of this show!
