I know it has been a year since you did this video so I'm a little late to the show but I have done this in the past and one little tip that I can give you that makes an awesome awesome look is when you go to pour the clear resin after you have put the alcohol ink in Port from high above your item because when you pour up high it makes that resin fall to the bottom and make some gorgeous effects.

Interesting. Might have to try this. Also, I just started doing videos again. In fact last week. Life happened big time.

This was a struggle for sure. There was another that gave me a hard time and wasn't sure if it was ever going to come out. It was a small wing ring dish. There was so much texture that it really had a hold of the resin. BUT I got it out. Giggle.

@@ClaraLawrence : you dont like using Mold Release the spray? i have to start using I damaged a mold it was a tiny area and this never happen B4, also thing the Resin just got to hot and fused, but I still don't fully understand about why resins fuse ? maybe the unequal epoxy resin ratios or things of that sort, I did see a reaction once I dropped umm that gold leaf thin foil yes it started to bubble like it was HOT🔥🔥🔥 an it was so why I mentioned the Mold Release and very nice pieces they turned out.,

Two of the first moulds I got were yours.. same trouble, same giggling and snorting and talking to myself:) it was so cool knowing I wasnt the only one... now I use a little soapy water, in a spray bottle to spray down the sides of the mould, it breaks the seal much easier, BUT beware of flying object, when the mould suddenly gives up its treasure:)

@Delphy35z3 жыл бұрын
Mold release stuff before you pour may help with that difficult demolding. Or so I've heard, I haven't really tried the one I bought yet. These look amazing though I can't wait to get something like these molds now. I did something similar with a coaster holder mold that turned out very cool too.

A couple drops of Dish soap mixed with some water will help if you spray between the resin and the mold before you try to demold it. Or spray rubbing alcohol to help loosen mold from resin

I drip my ink in the little crack to get in bottom pour. Then do next layer with drips on the top and pour resin over that.
@victoriabutterfly65213 жыл бұрын
Heya You see at the end after you used the skewer, the resin already had gone down some, which can happen when using alcohol ink. If that happens you can top it off with more resin. But if you don't want to do that you can top it off when it's more cured and then when the whole thing is fully cured you shouldn't have the issue with the sharp edges 😊

Have you ever seen a project like making a sphere alcohol ink and after about 15 minutes both of my projects got really hot and it started to foam. Like a volcano
@ClaraLawrence2 жыл бұрын
If the sphere is quite large and you pour resin in a deep and large quantity it will create a heat reaction. Make sure you get a casting resin and follow directions.

I think you wouldn’t have so much trouble demolding if you use the mold release. It really works well for me.
@Betterthanbought.3 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can help me out. Im having trouble with my alcohol inks making spots of my castings soft in areas where the ink is heavy. Im preheating my molds and get perfect results otherwise. What i been doing is quarter filling the molds then slowly rotating to coat the walls then drip in 1 drop and swirl then pour more resin 1 more drop of ink swirl and top off. Seems i always get a soft spot no matter what i do🤦♂️.
@ClaraLawrence2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like a pocket of alcohol ink preventing the resin to fully penetrate and having a soft spot. Also doing this technique in a thin layer will do the same. Add an extra layer of resin just colored or clear on top.
@steph99062 жыл бұрын
How do you remove the bubbles from the jar moulds? I always end up with so many
@ClaraLawrence2 жыл бұрын
I don't do big castings too often. When I do, I use a casting resin. They have build in degassing agents to help with bubbles. Also, you could pour in layers, spritz a little 91% alcohol then add more and repeat.

Whats the difference between art coat and casting resin please Clara?x
@ClaraLawrence4 жыл бұрын
Art Coat has a long working time, best uv protection, scratch resistance and heat resistance up to 425 degrees. Casting Resin is designed to be poured in thicker amounts and has a degassing effect built in to reduce bubbles naturally. I do not know about the scratch or heat resistance of Stone Coat's casting resin. I chose Art Coat for this mold, because I had some already mixed up for multiple projects.

Spray a little alcohol into the mold and work it around by squishing it and then the finished product will slip easily out of the mold. A tip I got from Wendy at Toonpish Crafts. Saves me fighting with the molds.
