Why can’t you special ice and ext when under shifter? It’s not cost so does it have to hit GY?

It is treated the same as cost, same reason you can't special diabellestar under shifter

I'm just learning this deck, but I've been wondering how well Nemeses Flag + Protos might work as a side deck option. Flag is searchable off Bonfire, and hand traps or extra deck dumps can give you the third attribute needed to summon Protos. Cross out designator could also theoretically give you a banished monster to special flag.

You’d need to open crazy to actually summon Protos. You could Forfeit the Deadnader and search protos and nib by doing the same combo he was showcasing there just instead of Detonator you’d go for banshee. But you definitely would burn Plug in and your normal summon. Bonfire or Ext + Bonfire, Node or sword. SS Ext sending Detonator Search Node if you have sword in hand SS Sword and Search Ice Make Duo Drive Attach Detonator Search Plug in + Cross Activate Cross SS Node Pitch a Card from your hand SS Ice Make Gallant Search Nib Activate plug in (attach Hole Thruster from deck to duo drive) and revive node Node Eff to SS from grave by sending gallant Make Banshee Search for Flag Normal summon Flag Add Protos Banish Gallant(Earth) and either fire and light monsters on grave And you could Fire or dark lock. Seems a bit much, just do castel and set Feather storm bro.
