Recently someone found out the game is NOT *endless* per se. If you actually beat stage 99 (not *scene* 99... STAGE 99), you get a "All Level Clear" message and credits. It takes more than 2 hours to do it and... well, the game still keep going so, ok, it is endless. The stage number rolls out back to 0 (yeah, you play stage zero), and you'll probably also have rolled over the score counter too by then. But *there is an ending* at some point. And I don't think anyone ever did that back in the day.

There is actually an ending. It shows a few names worked on it and "ALL STAGE CLEAR". You have to reach 100 stages to see it.
