Ball was thrown from the boundary but I still did not under stand why shoiab was so much away from the stumps just at the running mark of the batsman...Man it was clear that shoiab had the intention to obstruct sachin. Had he been failed to do that, sachin would have taken India to victory single handedly which he did so so many times in his entire career.

Towards the end when Shoaib Akhtar got Anil Kumble out caught brilliantly by Afridi, the crowd started a riot in the stands to an extent when the match officials had to stop the play n were left with no choice but to empty the stadium n play behind closed doors for the last wicket which is shown in these highlights. In Pak 2nd innings Azharuddin dropped Saeed Anwar when he was on zero. Then Anwar played a typical gritty inning and took the game away from India. Of course the most memorable part of the match was Shoaib's successive yorkers to Dravid and Sachin in the first innings. Not to forget Srinath's spell on day 1 and Moin Khan's fight back. Memorable test match. Wish Ind v Pak cricket could play more test cricket. Now the matches happen in World Cups. Limited overs don't generate the passion that Test Cricket does. 1999/00 Series was very intense & was the next series in 2004. Sultan of Multan.. Viru.

I still remember this test, it was a fresh day and Ganguly was on the crease, I was watching it on DD Tv (lucky me it was visible in Pakistan due to foggy weather) , I was sure that with Sourav at the crease India can easily manage to win this test but (6:20) when Wasim bowled, suddenly I heard the Hindi commentator "Aur Ganguly out ..." means Ganguly is out. with that the whole scenario of the match changed and Pakistan won the game. It was completely Tendulkar's fault that he got out, so it makes no sense that he would be called back, and I am an Indian. Watch the replay you would easily notice that Sachin was running without looking ahead ( where the batsman should look when running towards the opposing wicket ) and bashed into an unbeknownst Shoaib Akhtar. He did not expect the throw would result in a direct hit and ran lazily. Makes no sense that Wasim would call SRT back. Pak was already having decisions going against them from the umpires throughout the match. Had the other batsmen not fallen to Pakistan's bowling, the crowd would have been quiet. They did not start rioting because of 'unsportsmanship', they began rioting because India was losing an important match and an unofficial series decider. Eden Gardens crowd is the sourest of the sour grapes ( *cough* 1996 WC Semi Final vs Sri Lanka *cough* ).
