Mt Buller - Copperhead

@CrankDr1 Yeah I saw videos of the more intense tracks... I figured I'd comment on this one as it looks like something more suited to my bike. It looks like a nice track, seems to flow well. Are there many tracks suited to cross-country bikes, or are they mostly DH/freeride?

What're you riding? I've got a 2012 GIANT Trance X3 and even though it's a lower-end bike, I would love to check out Buller... I just have no way of getting there (I don't drive). The trails look quite nice though.

I actually use it as a warm up at the start of the day for the downhill runs at Mt Buller. It would be a great fun track if it wasn't so flat in some parts and the surface had a lot more grip, but as it stands at the moment, yes it's not great.

@hIViremia There's plenty of tracks for XC, in fact a whole side of the mountain is dedicated to it. Stonefly is nice. There's not many free ride tracks as such just downhill (international, Abom, yellow stone, klingsporn etc)

@hIViremia I'm riding a 2012 giant glory. You would be fine on copper head with your trance as it's not really a downhill track. I wouldn't take it down Abom or International runs though.

Were the tyres bad, or you just preferred the High Roller's? And have you been out to Mount Stromlo in the ACT?

I went for the Glory 2 for two reasons: 1. I liked the colour better than the others, and 2. I didn't like what components the other models were using so thought it'd be better to pay less and then upgrade to the components I wanted :-)

The Muddy Mary's are ok, but maybe a little too soft a compound on the edges as they tended to wash out on hard lean angle wheres the high rollers (being a somewhat harder compound) tended to track true. Haven't been to stromlo yet.

RatBoy muddy Marys are shit they puncture way to easy get urself a set of maxxis dhf tires they are mint and u can use them anywhere without punctures or chuncking

It's funner to do the start of Abom where all the jumps are and then connect on to copperhead

It's been great, a little heavy and the standard brakes suck but besides that I've dialled the suspension in to my weight and preference and changed the tyres to High Roller super tacky 2.7's and she's been fantastic.

Hey man I know it's been a while since you posted this but I thought I'd still ask, my mates and I are just starting to get into mountain biking. I've seen a few of your videos at mt buller and they look good just saying, we like the idea of down hill but are also thinking of dirt jump, so my question is would a hardtail go any good down something like this or the international? Or would a downhill bike go any good jumping? Because I'm not sure what to get and I like the look of both styles! If you could get back to me on this I would really appreciate it thanks

I would very much recommend against riding a hard tail down trails like international

Hey pal, awesome video! Just curious as to which brake set up you're using on your Glory now? I have a 2014 Glory 1 running the standard Shimano Zee's that I don't think too much off. And have you changed any other components on the glory? Cheers

Hi mate! I've got a pair of Avid codes on with sintered pads, both rotors are 200mm. The only other things I've done to the glory are schwalbe Magic Mary's front and rear and a wider handle bar, everything else is stock.

Thanks for your reply man, Is it an easy process, changing brake setup? I've never done it before. I like the Magic Mary's, my bike come standard with them. Also this might be a dumb question, but why the different handlebar? Cheers

Changing brakes is fairly straight forward just have to make sure you buy the correct adapters etc. I like a wide handlebar because it gives me greater control, the downside being it's a little tricky through tight trees, it's really a personal thing much the same as stem length and rise etc.
