That's a beast of a single day trip. Nice work. Wife and I were over on Black Crater on that same day; would have waved to you if I'd known you were there. I have never craved a bag of salty potato chips as badly as I did on my 2nd trip up Jeff. It was also the only time I've ever felt the need to just crash and take a nap after returning to the tent at Shale Lake.

Not an easy mountain. But i’d do it again.

Great video and climb! Totally agree with your mountain assessment 👍 Quick question: What would your favorite shoe/gator combo for scree be (if you weren't to swap out to boots). I keep trashing my trail runners coming down these mountains... Cheers

@@willstrachan8593 Honestly on the cascade volcanic rock no runner holds up, I have been trying the new Hoka Speedgoat 6 and it has held up well alot better than the older versions, Ultras also do very well holding up, but that volcanic rock tears soles up pretty quickly. I just use the dirty girl gators they work really good for keeping sand and rocks out of your shoes.

How is the glacier in sept? Can you scramble over the top of it?

Awesome job. Wife and I have been following in your footsteps this summer. Did jack and Washington not long after you. Planning Jeff this month. Broken record but how was the rap? I got a 40 and a 70m rope. Which should I take? Thanks! Keep up the good work!
@trevors_best_lifeАй бұрын
if you are going straight off the face back to the glacier the 70m. I used a 60m and wish I had 70. Good luck and godspeed.

Great video. It seems like some folks report that the final climb up is either class 5 or low class 5. How would you rate the summit block? Then, I noticed that you stated that a rappel of 60m was not enough to get you all the way to the bottom. Were you able to set another rappel or did you down climb at that point?
@trevors_best_life2 ай бұрын
The final climb is not class 5, it’s a class 4 scramble at best. If there was any class 5 move there wasn’t enough exposure to feel in any danger. The 60m rope was just short but yes there plenty of room to make another rap station, I’m sure depending on the size of the glacier this changes all the time. But the rappel isn’t technical, but it does cut out backtracking to down climb and go back around the mountain. There are alot more rap stations headed down the Jefferson Park side.

@@trevors_best_life When you say there was plenty of room to make another rap station, were you able to make it to the station at the "large horn" on the SW pinnacle with the 60m rope? Or did you have to improvise an anchor somewhere above? You were able to get back to the traverse with just two rappels?
@trevors_best_life2 ай бұрын
I just climbed down at the point it was only another 15 feet and nothing technical. If you made another wrap station and had your crampons on you could get straight down onto the glacier.
