What a great video! I have only been over Mt Roland by car on the way to Cethana Dam and, even from the lookout off the road there, the views are spectacular. I wonder if you carry a UHF radio with you. From up there, you would be able to talk to Devonport as you have 'line of sight'. Even a small 5 W portable would make it. It's also safe to have a radio with you, just in case.. Thanks for the narrative and great pictures. Keep it up Lucas!

Thanks mate 🙂 No I don't carry a UHF on me. I agree it's not a bad idea in terms of an extra layer of safety, but at this state I don't have plans to invest in one.

I don't think I've ever been up that way - only ever come across Mt Claude, Van Dyke and finish off over Roland, but this looks like a nice quick way of getting up there. It's such a great area

Flo & Nord I also thought about heading up via that northern track which makes its way through the cliffs which are visible from Sheffield, but the Abels book suggested starting at gowrie park, so that's what I did haha!

Has to be one of the most majestic road approaches to a mountain in the state! The road out of Sheffield...

Nathan Kroeze It's pretty nice to drive through sprawling farmland with the Mt Roland backdrop for sure!

I've been wanting to get up Roland that way, it looks quite interesting despite the difficulty!

@@LucasChamberlain Don't do it to yourself unless you want to sweat up a storm. Then again I saw a woman in her mid 50s coming down casually. I'm heading down to Hobart tomorrow. Planning to visit the south West hikes you've made videos about and some you haven't. Very surprised you haven't done them all since you're based down there.

@@quickcar5255 Which SW walks? There are a few other walks I've done out that way recently but haven't made videos for. Mt Anne circuit, Mt Bowes, ragged range, maydena range, Fedders, come to mind.

Why wild dogs, seems as though wild dogs aren’t in Tasmania they’re in the mainland
@LucasChamberlain6 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know. But I doubt the parks and wildlife service would install a warning sign about wild dogs if they weren't in Tasmania.
