Aphex Twin track from Drukqs [2001] slowed to 74.074% of CD release's speed. Sounds superb slowed, although a FLAC source would be ideal.

The internal head flutter that he creates from 10:00 onwards is an effect that completely bewilders me. How he has managed to elicit a neuro-visceral reaction from the listener is beyond me, beyond you, and beyond anyone else on this sphere. He is a musical genius, no doubt and largely unrecognised for being that in the wider community. Loved hearing the slowed down version. It works on a different level altogether as if re-experiencing the moment when I finally ‘got it’ when listening to the original.

it's nuts isn't it, it makes me feel like i don't exist, like i'm literally outside reality for a minute. i think it's inspired by him creating this track in the back of a car in france, and having the window rolled down partially. then when the circumstances are right, you get this aerodynamic loop or whatever it is, where the air pressure inside the car rapidly increases and decreases, so you get this crazy gating effect sort of naturally. it completely fucks up your entire orientation within space and time, cause your ears and brain just don't have any idea what to do with all that contrasting sensory input coming in at such a high rate, so you automatically start to dissociate it seems. it's a really cool effect Apparently it's called Helmholtz resonance wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmholtz_resonance

This is a legit easter egg to realize that this track is not made to listen at normal BPM. This is the reason it slipped under the radar in my case. Was not much into it until I listened to the slowed version which is much more enjoyable IMO. So many details going on in this masterpiece WOW!

The attention to detail is already insane, like TRULY insane just how much effort and precision is put into each sound, and then the insanity is exponentially raised by just how many sounds there are in conjunction with each other. The skill in the sound production, the mixing, and the progression are just beyond anything I've heard before.

Always gives me chills... of joy. Very strange but pleasing sensation. He split that beautiful section into 16th notes gradually reducing their duration (or increasing the silence gap between notes). Then, when notes get really short, rhythm is lost, so uses longer notes as accents. A new way of drumming, just brilliant.

Not sure if that's entirely true. When something is recorded in a DAW, the vinyl is at best an analog projection of the bits you'd get from the flac (albeit through a really nice DAC.) That said if he records at a certain bit rate and then cuts the final master by speeding up an analog source like a vinyl or a tape (which I've heard he does) then the resulting vinyl would have a higher "bit rate" (for lack of a better word) than you would if you just sped up the master flac. But then when you upload the vinyl to youtube it goes back into a digital format through a standard consumer's ADC and comes out through a standard consumer's DAC anyway, so whats the point.
