The double tracking is an absolute nessecity,not only spuring job growth,but for the passengers,they will have more to go to work,and not be delayed.For everyone concerned.and what a great railroad to model.

I am all for the double track project and I think they may be reconsidering the grade crossing elimination along the the main line as well just like the Babylon Branch in the future too because the service on the line will be frequent for rail traveling.
@DTD1108658 жыл бұрын
I strongly recommend eliminating the grade crossing at Suffolk CR 13 (among others), instead of building everything else around that crossing so that embankments along the potential bridge can't be built.
@byronchavarria49542 жыл бұрын
@@DTD110865 Why
@DTD1108652 жыл бұрын
@@byronchavarria4954 Because if you build everything else around the grade crossings, it makes the elimination of grade crossings more difficult to build. It takes up valuable right-of-way space that would be better suited for the embankments leading to the bridges over or under the tracks.

The Montauk Line Needs A Second Track Between Patchouge And Montauk
@arielgonzalez52966 жыл бұрын
Me, and my family been riding LIRR M7 Ronkonhma branch for few times to visit my family for festivities, and holidays. I'm so excited to see the 2nd track coming in, and get half an hour off peak service. Maybe needs to build longest couple stations.

Congrats New York you are dragging yourself into the high tech world of double tracks
@DTD11086512 жыл бұрын
I take it the yard is supposed to be near the freight terminal near Exit 66 on the Long Island Expressway. If a second track and/or electrification project takes place, it should include the rerouting of River Road in East Yaphank under a two-lane bridge and another bridge over the tracks for Moriches-Middle Island Road.

I love the idea of the double track, but are you sure the revival of Republic Station is such a good idea? It would slow down travel time between Farmingdale and Pinelawn.
@FRANKFRANKFRANK427 жыл бұрын
The Republic Station should have been in service long time ago; The station is a good ideal; because it brings money to the LIRR and Route 110 is a busy area for employment for people who wanted to get to their jobs or shopping areas and entertainment and more. I have been on the 110 corridor and I have seen eastbound trains at a stand still until the westbound train clears the single track. that is the opportunity for the REPUBLIC STATION should have been established long time ago.
@timkelly7 жыл бұрын
Glad to see I'm not alone on this! Airport Plaza has been struggling to keep their restaurants in business (Noodles & Co is long gone, Core Life Eatery will soon replace it but the Chinese buffet recently closed) and I believe the return of the Republic LIRR station would increase business dramatically. And I can't be the only one who constantly misses trains because I have to walk or take the bus over to Farmingdale station. Plus, there's a giant movie theater across the street from where Republic was (and hopefully will be again)! Now, if we can still convince Wahlburger to build where Spartan Diner stands, business will be booming!
@MrMaster76712 жыл бұрын
This is a great idea, because if one train was in single territory while another is in double, then it would have to stop at the block point where the track turns into a single track til the one in single passes. With this, trains wouldn't have to stop.

They should do double tracking on the Montauk Branch first. The amount of demand it gets in the summer is absolutely massive
@rontroy38436 жыл бұрын
Montauk? For a few months worth of spoiled brats? Way down on the priority list. Port Jeff needs both double tracking and electrification, and the resultant large increase in trains in both directions. PJ has only 2 direct trains per day in and out. In one is during rush hour, the other not, apparently aimed at shoppers. Evening both trains leave before rush hour. On top of that, you can have multi hour waits to go inbound after morning rush. Service is awful but there are plenty of riders year round. And if they really wanted to do it right, they'd buy back the right of way east of PJ and restore it and connect it to another branch.

@@rontroy3843 I'm not against double-tracking the Port Jefferson Branch, but doing so would require replacing a few high bridges. 1)The bridge over Bread-and-Cheese Hollow Road south of Fort Salonga. 2)The long bridge over NY 25 and the Nissequogue River Valley in Smithtown. 3)The Stony Brook Road bridge in western Stony Brook. 4)The Old Town Road bridge in the Setauket Area. You could also ditch the one lane bridges at Bennets Road and Gnarled Hollow Road.

Also the platform work at Wyandanch to lengthen the existing platform and build the new platform has to be completed. Ditto for the Pinelawn station.
