MTB Broekpolder Vlaardingen 2018 - GoPro Hero 7 Black 2.7K with HyperSmooth

Testing the GoPro Hero 7 Black in 2.7K60 mode with HyperSmooth stabilisation enabled during a mountainbike run at MTB Broekpolder in The Netherlands. GoPro mounted directly on chest mount, without gimbal.

Looks great! I have a 7 black too I ride with. You should try a windslayer foam cover on it. They are cheap and take away most wind noise. To me the 7 black sounds much better then the 6 black and with a windslayer on it sounds even better.

Looks great, clear and stable with out the need to pay extra for a gimble.

It seems like the video has bitrate issues. its certainly not compression from youtube as others videos dont look like this. The video has a slight blur or fuzz.

Is it me or the foliage has this watercolor look even in ok light. I see these on my original files also, mainly on 1080p resolution. I suspect a more agressive noise reduction compared to the 6.

I was thinking of getting the new hero 7 as an alternative to using the hero 6 with a gimbal, but from your video I can see some serious issues with artifacts in the video? What's your opinion on it?

Most of the artefacts you see are due to KZbin's poor compression of 60p content. Having said that, motion sharpness is not totally perfect and a real gimbal would do better in that respect, but overall I'm quit impressed so far.

The sound quality is also inferior to GoPro 4 with gimbal. A lot of top mountain bike youtubers uses that setup for that reason alone.

you could, but that would require plugging into the gopro that's already attached to a gimbal, all while riding an MTB. Daggling wires? More stuff to carry? I will pass on that when the gopro4 can be a self-contained camera. The Hero7 stabilization is decent, but still not quite good enough imo.

I make running videos and use a chesty, gimbal, hero session 5. This may replace the gimbal and session 5. Thoughts? Thank you for sharing this awesome bike ride.

I mean the image stabilization is insane however...... I want to see a comparison video with your settings here and settings with image stabilization off and a gimble. I have a feeling it will be better with a gimble and no image stabilization. The stabilization is using AI to guess what the image should like and works great on slow action from what I've seen but anything fast like this on a bike and it gets blasted with pixels.

It's not a fierce downhill descent, but it's uneven enough to make it unwatchable without stabilisation.
