Fantastic news Francis. I was wondering about this myself. One thing to still be determined is if the Mastermind TCU can also monitor the optional 160wh supplemental battery on the Levo and Creo SL models. I got it to turn on but it says it needs an update before riding (turtle icon). I can’t do anything because I try and sync it with my Mission Control and it says Connection Error. I wonder if it confuses my Mission Control because I already registered my old TCU? I’m guessing the mastermind needs updating, the question is, if I can’t synch it to my Mission Control, how do I update it? Can I some how update it thru the USB-C port, or something the dealer needs to do? And they probably aren’t going to be happy that I am running this unit, since technically is not available yet

Great video. Any further updates now we are in 2023 on doing this swap? I have a 2022 Turbo Levo Comp Alloy and would love to upgrade to the Mastermind TCU. Specialized still seems to be denying this is possible, also saying a swap would void the warranty and future firmware updates could lock the Mastermind TCU from working on bikes with Serial #s not made for the Mastermind? A couple of other questions 1) in doing this swap did u find that there was full functionality in the phone software? For example could you setup the different Mastermind screens using your phone after you did the swap? How did u update your phone functionality which would hv been different with the original TCU to match the new Mastermind TCU? 2). The original TCU requires a battery change when the battery dies. The Mastermind TCU does not require a battery. My understanding is that the Mastermind TCU works off the main motor battery in the bike? In doing the swap was there any wiring modifications or did the swap of the Mastermind TCU wiring match that of the wiring of the original TCU? 3) Was any functionality of the Mastermind TCU limited in any way from a Mastermind TCU that comes with one of the factory installed higher level more recent Specialized bikes? For example you illustrated that in startup an error message comes up stating component swap. Is there anything else functionality or software wise or anyway that might be different from one of the bikes that comes with a factory installed Mastermind unit? 4) Do you know where it might be possible to get a Mastermind TCU today and how much they would go for if I wanted to get one? Thks again for a great video.

What exactly did you do to make it work? I ordered one from InCycle, plugged it into my Gen2 Levo, nothing. No beep, no display, nothing.
@helpmehelpme46305 ай бұрын
It's unfortunate, but purchasing the incycle tcu2 won't work on gen 1 gen 2 or even gen 3 turbo levo's that did NOT already come with the tcu2 installed. If you have the standard tcu (blue lines) that tcu is tied to your motor's serial number. A specialized dealer needs to basically remove that serial from the old tcu( if its a friend / they can just remove it and give it to you so that you can swap back and forth), and then they need to reprogram the new tcu2 with your bike/motor serial number. This is the only way to get it to work. I say it's unfortunate because recently specialized is now preventing dealers and LBS from doing this as the TURBO STUDIO software they use prevents this option. In the past, when a tcu1 would break, they only were able to replace it with the in stock tcu2, so they allowed the serial updates. Now they don't. - Specialized tech

Hi! mastermind is gonna work with my Turbo Creo SL? My TCU has 2 buttons and Mastermind only 1...I think that’s if it works I need the handlebar control too. 🤔 I dont care about the price...if it works I want it
@MtbrVideos3 жыл бұрын
You would need that third button to paginate if you want more than one screen of info

Will the new TCU work with previous versions of the Turbo Vado SL 5? According to their website, it doesn't!

Where can I get this mastermind?
@byronswogger3 жыл бұрын
Our specialized rep in Utah said they will be releasing a firmware update to make it uncompatible with 2.1 motors. But if you get a 2.2 motor into a Gen 2 levo I don't see how they could lock that out.
@21SpielSatsSieg213 жыл бұрын
Why should they lock that out?
@aint4ever3 жыл бұрын
@@21SpielSatsSieg21 Because they want you to buy a new bike not upgrade the old one!

Is there a new button pod for the handlebars needed? How can it display altimeters???
@MtbrVideos3 жыл бұрын
No new button needed since there is an extra button already on top of the Levo remote. Altitude is calculated since it has a very good pressure sensor like those found in the best cyclometers with Altimeters. Only weakness of these systems is weather storms come in and significantly change ambient air pressure.

can you tell if this TCU works on turbo levo 2022? and where can i buy it?
@bryanboldt8872 жыл бұрын
I use my Garmin 1030 to display everything I want, and can read that (my eyesight is not great without reading glasses) ok while. The TCU 2, does not have enough real estate (display size) that I would be able to read while riding. While the TCU 2 also adds some features like 1% battery usage steps, estimated distance remaining, etc, there is nothing that is a "game changer" about it. I can see this item being in demand simply because anyone that can afford one of these e-bikes probably can afford to upgrade the TCU if they wish. I don't see Specialized giving these away either. My bottom line opinion... just go ride and don't bother with hype.

I put it on a Kenevo 2021, and works, but dont change Screen.

I have talked to a lot of people that have done this. They tell me it will fry the motor.
@mrjapanimeniac3 жыл бұрын
what about the motor unit? .If i break another Bose unit can i replace it with the new motor and casing? ....price wise for the display can not surpass a Garmin unit or Wahoo, unless maps are available. If payment to replace the whole motor area is an option i would pay ....definitely! with all that protection is worth it
@MtbrVideos3 жыл бұрын
Very good question. We've asked Specialized the same question. the improvements done on the Gen3 motor would be good for a Gen2 warranty as well.

Es, I'd pay $100 for this diaplay. There's a company in Australia by the name velociraptor. Is a hack tcu master and it is insane from what I read. But is $350 aud, but seem worth it for what it does!!!

Is it compatible with the Vado SL 4.0?
@murchman03 жыл бұрын
So why did Specialized put out that it wouldn't work on the Gen 2 or the SL?
@MtbrVideos3 жыл бұрын
It's not a supported product yet. I'm sure messaging is difficult since they would want to protect inventories of this TCU for Gen3 replacements first.
