Done this route several times over the years, great trails and so different from the bike parks. The next lift on will also take you to Switzerland where you can ride the legendary Champery downhill. 👍👍
@MtbTrailHub4 жыл бұрын
Yeah you are right, feels like a different area completely. I haven't ventured to the Champery DH for years as we always seem to run out of time. How is it these days? Still as crazy steep as ever?
@darrenparfitt15204 жыл бұрын
It’s steep, but fun. It’s just one of those runs you have to have on your bucket list. The first time I rode it, made me realise what an incredible rider Danny Hart is.👍

Love your vids, keep up the great work. If i want to explore the Ports Du Soleil area (love single track / Berms / table tops etc). The only thing i wont be doing are gap jumps as i’ll end up breaking something no doubt 😆 With the above in mind, would you suggest a downhill or Enduro bike would be best ??
@MtbTrailHub6 ай бұрын
Hey Si, Cheers, Thanks for tuning in! What ever you're more comfortable on really, but let's be honest if you've got a DH bike and you're not taking it to the Alps then you may as well sell it! haha Both bikes are more than capable, DH bike will be easier on tired limbs but more of a slog on the pedal sections......
@markstewart39394 жыл бұрын
How did ya find the Reign for the Alps? Never ridden abroad from the UK before and looking at up biking from my Giant Anthem SX to something more Enduro-ey...
@MtbTrailHub4 жыл бұрын
Yeah i love the reign, It's capable of almost anything in the alps. Not saying that a DH wouldn't be better on some trails but as an overall......It has coped really well out there. It helps to be a bit more precise with your lines, rather than bulldozing through the rough stuff like you would on a dh bike. The brakes have struggled a bit on the really long descents but other than that it's spot on.

Great video, I am planning to do this in August. I think I have a good idea of how to get there now thanks to this video. But how do you get back to Morzine from there?
@MtbTrailHub5 ай бұрын
Thanks for tuning in! The one piece of key information regarding coming back from this route is to make sure you get to the top of the Mossette suisse lift. From the top of there you are still a long way from home but it's possible to ride back without using lifts. It's not a complicated route but until you've done it it will be confusing. The easiest way to explain it would be to exit the Mossette suisse lift and follow the red PDS signs back to Lindarets. For directions - Come off of the lift and join the fire road as it bears to the left. Follow it down the hill and take the next left rather than carrying on towards the Suisse national trail. Follow the red signs from here and peel left again on the XC trail. Once you drop back towards Lindarets just stay on the undulating traverse and it will take you back to Lindarets valley floor. Be sure to do a few laps of the Crossettes chairlift as there is an amazing red run underneath which brings you back directly to the bottom of the chairlift. I'd advise not to go head to this area if storms are predicted as they can close the lifts. Rain is ok, thunder and lightning..... very frightning! haha

great video! This trail looks absolutely incredible - cant wait to check it out.. Whats it like getting back to Morzine from there? Fairly self-explanatory?
@MtbTrailHub4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Arthur, It really is as good as it looks! It's way easier getting back but does include a bit of pedaling(not much though). Once you're done lapping the swiss gems then follow the fireroad to the left at the top of Mossettes- suisse chairlift. After a few hundred metres down the fire road bear left again and lookout for the red PDS signs again. keep heading left and it will take you back to Linderets again! Have a blast! Enjoy!
@chrisbilsborrow93292 жыл бұрын
@@MtbTrailHub thanks for the video very helpful. From Linderet would you head back on the road through ardent, or go back up to Avoriaz.
@MtbTrailHub2 жыл бұрын
@@chrisbilsborrow9329 It depends how you’re feeling and what time it is. I prefer getting the lift to avoriaz and riding back via Super Morzine depending if the lifts are still open. Dropping down the road can be a good option if you want to go to montriond lake. Bear in mind there will be a short uphill pedal (roughly 1m) back to Morzine from montriond .

Hi Jamie - I am going out next week for the Pass Portes 2024 and wondered is the Swiss National part of the the Pass Portes Route or is it separate?
@MtbTrailHub6 ай бұрын
Nice! The swiss national trail is not part of the PDS loop however you will ride very close to the entrance to it. If you were really keen and making good time you could drop in for a quick lap and then rejoin the loop. It's possible..... just depends if you are making good time. Enjoy!
@thijsvervaeke4844 Жыл бұрын
if you go back to France starting on top of the Mossettes, which trail do you take?
@MtbTrailHub Жыл бұрын
You'll want the Red PDS route back. From the top of mossettes when you get off the chairlift the trail follows around behind the lift staion to riders right. Instead of dropping back into the suisse side, bear left and it will take you back to Linderets eventually. From here you can either get the avoriaz chair up and drop into super M or bypass the chair and go down the road through goat village and down into morzine via Lac d Montriond. There will be a small bit of pedalling either way.
