Salary of Btech and Mtech is same for SDE roles offered by big tech companies,SINCE both of them get hired as SDE-1 only. Mtech gets paid a bit more than Btech when it comes to niche domains(like ML/R&D work in electronics). That being said Mtech does lose out on sitting in a lot of non tech roles(like consulting,product management,banking)

@@souravpatra0175 always aim for old iits. Some old iits like iitg and iitr don't allow Ece and EEE students for cse program. But IIT B, K, M, Kgp, D and iisc allow all branch students for their cse program. As far as iiits are concerned they allow all branches but most NIT's have a barrier like a btech in cse is necessary, gate cse paper mark alone is not enough

Please mention that these are regarding the Mtech CSE. Mtech in other branches is not nearly as lucrative as you make everyone believe.

This is also true for Mtech through gate ece. And majority of software companies allow all the branches for placement at IITs. It depends upon the student to take the advantage of that.
