what won pro tour Dragons of Tarkir again? Oh yeah, $20 mono-red aggro. Hmm, what had a major presence during nearly the entire standard season for the last two years? $20 U/W Heroic. $20 is more than enough to build something solid

I currently have a more expensive version of this deck. I like some of the additions like blisterpod and from beyond. Instead of blue i thought of black for the eldrazie that scrys when a creature you control dies. Excellent job as always.

So I have just jumped back into the saddle of magic and bought the "Vicious Cycle" intro deck. I am noticing a lot of your stuff here could apply to that deck too. Any suggestions on where I should go with Vicious cycle or should I just build your deck? I have several cards that make my sacrifices or the deaths of my creatures worth it, all the while cultivating more sources of mana. Looking at this deck though, I am thinking of throwing in some of those Surraks. My deck currently has an Ulamog and a World Breaker. I have also put in various eldrazi that do something, such as put out scions, whenever a nontoken creature of mine dies. It also contains a host of spells that return stuff from the graveyard or allow me to put basic lands into play, often tapped.

Hello! Thank you for your budget deck videos; they've been very helpful. I used your guide for a cheap mono-green eldrazi ramp deck (some blue splashed in), and thought i'd give some feedback on how it did in an official event: It was very similar to the deck you list, with some upgrades: 2 Kioras, 4 Oblivion Sowers, 1 Void Winnower, 1 Ulamog, 4 From Beyonds. I played 4 games with it, against different strategies: 1. Won the first match fairly easily; the opponent had a similar deck strategy to mine but used B/G instead; not much to say here. 2. Very close match, probably only lost because i didn't know enough to call out my opponent on using fetch lands to fetch other fetch lands. He was running a R/G/W bolster deck, making use of that enchantment that doubles +1 counters, and that legendary tree guardian. Very close match, i conceivably could have won. 3. I got curbstomped. This was a super-fast, mono-red deck with lots of dash, and i could do nothing against it. I subbed in all the jeddi offshoots i had, etc., but i couldn't deal with it. Lost both games by turn 5. 4. More competitive; he ran abzan with hangerback walkers and Gideon. The biggest problem by far was his use of 'Crackling Doom' every time i got out one of my big eldrazi creatures. Even with my blue counters side-boarded in, it was hard to deal with. I finished 1-3, and while i was competitive in most games, the strategy doesn't feel ideal. The goal is to get out a 6-drop by turn 4, and i was rarely able to do that. The lack of cards like 'Fog' made my inability to have any aggression in the first 4 turns feel painful. I think i may try to make it more of a G/R ramp to make use of some red removal i have (Roast, Crater Claws, Wild Slash), and try to find some cheap aggressive creatures to use (i've seen Zurgo suggested, may try something cheaper); may even put Omnath in + sorceries to get lands out. May be hard to keep Kiora in there, but with the Rattclaws + Shaman of FWs + G/U dual lands, should be doable. If you have any thoughts, feel free to respond :)

In process of building this deck. Could "Void Winnower" and/or "Desolation Twin" be placed in place of anything? Just trying to work with what I own already before I go buy some of the cards. Also, would a "Hedron Archive" work in place of a "From Beyond?" Lastly, thanks for sharing this neat little deck build.

Great video, I am excited about trying some Eldrazi. One question I had though, all of your videos seem to be made towards standard. I am a newer player and typically just do drafts with the intention of trading cards to build a decent deck. I was told Modern was the format I wanted to build my deck for since they don't rotate those decks hold their value better. Obviously $20 is not a big investment to get into the standard format. What I was wonder is, how would I take a deck like this and get it into Modern, or would I just not be able to do that and be competitive?

I've been using and trying to get this deck together... Since this deck produce a lots of tokens, I decided to include "Deceiver of forms" and it really worked nicely as "combo", I had 3 tokens on the battlefield and bane of bala ged on the top of the library, the opponent had to exile 6 permants!!!... I'm trying to get a "ramp-aggro", This is like a improved version of "swarming instincts" intro deck

I would think being a budget mono colored deck one or two copies of Rogue's Passage would be pretty good, helps some of your big Eldrazi get through, that plus i don't think the deck has any mana sinks, which you would think you would want some with all the ramp.

Having a couple Temur Sabretooth in the sideboard works great against aggro (especially Atarka Red) as they can't use their pump spells against him if you have the extra two mana floating. Also the return to hand effect has some pretty insane synergy with the 4 eyeless watchers. Chump blockers for days. Side Note: Went 3-2 with a slightly modified version of this deck on Friday!

this is a thing now if im not mistaken and i've been playing with a similar list. one of the champ non-budget deck i've seen has den pro and hangarback, ugins and ulamogs. though ugin is good, i figure surrak + a breaker of armies right on curve will have a simillar effect. additionally, on bad draws i find turn 3 and 4 getting a bit empty considering i play nissa's pilgrimage AND natural connection. i went back to this list and am highly considering putting back the blisterpods and call the scions and cutting the explosive vegetations and hedron archive i've added.

And can you also do a video on the most overpowered goblin deck you can make? If you do i would recommend "Warren instigator"/"Goblin lackey" to cheat out some bigger goblins (like "Siege gang commander"), "Goblin warchief " to buff and give all your goblins haste and "Krenko, mob boss" to double the amount of goblins you have each turn. Nice use of Surrak. Especially with Conduit tutors (which can't tutor for Endless one, might be better to try Void Winnower or something like that) With the red from Rattleclaw, Rolling Thunder might be a good option to include some G/R lands instead of islands (just use rattle claw for blue, or actually some Temur lands).
@Goujiki
@Goujiki 9 жыл бұрын
+Jamie Clark yea i dont want to use the blue, i was thinking of switching out the blue with drowner of hope. just adding rolling thunder, cuz oftentimes i find myself with a crap ton of mana and nothing to spend it on. Rolling thunder or something else, i guess just more oblivion sowers. also Im playing 23 land right now and i find myself with too much mana and drawing too many lands on turns, even with 23 lands in the deck.
@JamieClark
@JamieClark 9 жыл бұрын
+Goujiki make some of them Lumbering Falls and then you have a bit of a mana sink for later. That's what I would do - and then Llanowar Waste if you want Drowner of Hope, but suddenly you're past $20 ;-)

I don't know why (and I think I'm probably the only one thinking like this) but I feel like you should always start by your budget deck techs videos before game day arrives. As a mtg player without a whole lot of bucks (well, it's mostly a lack of will to spend a lot of bucks) to put into a deck but still wants to be a deal at FNM and gameday, those are the most useful ones, and I feel like they are most useful at the release of a new set before game day because it gives me more time to check them ut and figure out what I want to play and test it out before this event. Now that's just my opinion, keep doing what you do the way you do it and I'll still keep watching your deck techs with dedication :)

Why don't you like Breaker? He opens the way for the other eldrazi and you can kill another guy an opponent controls..
