Probably, and GPM is also nice to double up on the heavy hitters. I'm still a little surprised that no one but Merchant runs Slitherwisp, it just feels like such a natural fit.

I just want to put it out there, haven’t heard anyone say it; if your opponent is actively trying to escape cards from the yard that also means that they will, at least some of the time, help you turn your rogues on. I know, on balance, their plan hurts you more than it helps you but this point still stands. It’s not nothing. 🖖great deck Dev. I’m running a similar list and I ended up on two copies of “I’m not a Ninja, two copies of sliverwisp, and zero copies of Rankle. I tried him and I think it’s too much to tap out and play him and even though we don’t run as many flash creatures as you’d like for Sliverwisp it’s also just very good to be able to play him himself at instant speed. Temp decks having flash creatures is very good and we really need to get some card draw in this deck. I think he’s very important and have even considered going up a copy or two. Just my two cents.

I've found that ghostly pilferer really helps to keep pace with uro among other creatures eg: adventure creatures etc... He's been my unexpected all star rogue!

Rogues is not 1 deck. There are at least 3 very different and very good Rogues decks. I've been playing with an awesome aggro variant of Rogues that is a Lurrus deck and plays Mind Carver and Mire's Grasp and Ghostly Pilferer and Vantress Gargoyle. There's a flash deck that stars Slitherwisp and all the flash rogues. And then there's the bigger, tempo-focused rogues deck like the cool one Dev has built here which introduces Nighthawk Scavenger and Rankle as key pieces. All are serious decks. The core of all 3 is Thieves Guild Enforcer, Soaring Thought-Theif and Drown in the Loch. But there are many differences beyond that. It's awesome how much play and versatility this archetype has.

I’m running Cunning Nightbonder and Slitherwisp for protection in the mirror matches and the extra card draw is really nice. Also Blackbloom Rogue has won me a couple of matches although it’s a placeholder while I craft 3 more Tarmohawks. Also tried Rankle but cut him as Zareth San is a better 4 drop.

This is the first deck I've built in this standard that I've felt good about. Mine is a little different then this one. My removal package is much different, I have 4 Drown in the Loch and 3 Eat to Extinction. DITL is an all star and Eat is 4 mana but instant and has sort of Surval. I dont have the one drop blue rogue but I am running a 4 of Cunning (the flash that makes your flash not counteralbe, and cost one less). I also am running the one drop equipment that give +3/+1 when opponent has 8 cards in the yard, it really give the deck reach. The last thing i have that you didnt use are the rogue/lands, it's a 3 mana menace rogue that is a 5/3 when 8 cards in the yard. Over all I like what you got here but think you should try some of the things I'm running and see how it does for you. I have 16 lands in the deck but 28 possible lands, I love these new MDFC.

I'm playing a slightly more aggressive build of this that uses zulaport duelist over windrobber and slitherwisp to draw and push through extra damage. The flash package has been pretty good for early standard, but I'll probably convert it to this build when I get the wildcards

I am running 2 Masked Blackguard since I don't have 4 nighthawks and they have been really good! the extra flash creature for 2 does some decent work.

I've played rogues since release and I'm convinced they need siltherwisp for a card draw engine. Then with siltherwisp I drop rankle and nighthawk for the 1 drop flash rogues. It's more consistent imo.

Definitely rooting for this deck to be a competitive force cuz I love rogues and have been trying to make rogues work since I started playing Arena last fall. I feel like it would be better in best of 3 because it seems like you have to have specific answers for all the scary meta cards out there and if you don't it's GG. Also in my experience this a deck that falls apart pretty quick if you miss a good draw or make a bad play. There are decks in the meta that really feel like they can get away with a misplay here or there (lookin at YOU monored!).

PSA: in the mirror (or whatever applicable case), avoid taking the opponent's Brazen Borrowers with Zareth. I snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by Petty Thefting my own Brazen Borrower back.

I run it because it gives Zareth more options to grab. I've not won through mill yet, but I very frequently get opponents down to under 10 cards. I don't know if it has to be included, but I don't feel like I'm losing too much either way! Will be curious to see how the meta evaluates crab.

I've been holding onto my wildcards as to not waste them on a deck I'll end up hating. I think this one is going to be fun. I'll craft it (hopefully I have enough rare wildcards) Ps: I just finished crafting it. I replaced the clear pathway cards with a dual color land from M21 because I didn't have enough cards for the lands. I crafted everything else that I still didn't have. Now I play. Thank you!

Nice deck. But I'm struggling to answer this one question: how are we to deal with Uro? I mean, in attempting to reach the 8-cards treshold and getting a big scavenger, we quite literally enabling the opponent to escape Uro and all the while jeopardize both the threshold and the scavenger

Hmm, so that's 3 variants I've seen now between Dev, CGB and Merchant (Currently running Merchant's version and loving it). I do find it rather odd that out of the 3 of you, Merchant is the only one advocating Slitherwisp and I feel like that's kind of a big oversight on the part of others. Yes it's not a Rogue but it puts in a hell of a lot of work giving the deck an additional engine and some side damage with the pings. Also kinda shocked that NOBODY (though merchant acknowledged it) is running the new clone rogue. It may just be too slow I dunno, but using it to grab an extra thought thief or night hawk seems busted. But the deck already has an overcrowded 3 slot so I can understand why (it's probably better in Sultai/Temur Mill to get extra crabs). Where I'm torn most right now is the Windrobber vs Duelist. I HATE that the Duelist lacks flying, but it adds a pretty crazy amount of utility and I've actually won games because of the -2 power trick on it. It also makes for easy sacrifice fodder later on for Rankle. I'm actually kinda scared to see what new Rogues we'll get with the other 2 sets later next year, particularly the D&D set.

I play this deck, ranking about diamond 2 in MTGo. First round, TGE. Secpond Round, another TGE then a Windrobber. Third round Soaring though thief. As long as you dont face pure red or a counter deck, you've already won.

The rouge deck does have a weak matchup or two, but if they can sonic there way to the w they can usually surpass your typical control decks. Mono Black is king against all these creature decks that we are seeing. That new enchantment/kill a creature card puts in work against a few relevant cards, sadly doesn't deal with Henge. BUT Murderous riders is still a solid playable removal card and you should get at 3 copies on a deck that you want to win games🔥 die in a fire standard also you put the scavenger in there since you well be putting cards in their graveyard. Lastly extinction event, extinction event, extinction event. 10,000 scuttlebutts no problem. Creature with hex/indestructible no problem. Have a board full of odd cards and opponent has even no problem. 😃But people rather complain then play magic properly like a modern player with to much removal 😉

I’ve been playing a historic deck variant of this with 4 copies of oona’s blackblade. Opponents usually scoop by turn 4 or 5. It’s delightfully disgusting.

I have noticed recently that MTG Arena seems buggy in that it doesn't always let you sacrificed Merfolk Windrobber when you assign it as a blocker. Normally you can do this but recently it doesn't allow, and just immediately takes the damage. Is there some effect that prevents this? It used to allow me to sac all the time when defending, to get the card draw.
