Sick elbows, seems like Saravia got a little excited after the knockdown and walked straight into them. Nice fight!

The people will always voice their opinions after disappointment. Victor was close to ending the fight, but.... Dan McGowan really pulled it back with such heart. Its sad to see two nations verbally attacking one another over this. The fight was amazing and should be remembered for that. We want to voice our opinions but have to leave out the slander. Credit is due to both athletes, this is a fight for Muay Thai history.

McGowan was about to get KNOCKED OUT!

Can you explain how? All I saw was a tight guard with amazingly precise elbows hitting Victor repeatedly cutting him twice in a short period of time, and Victor hitting gloves. If you've trained Muay you'd know when you throw an elbow you're fully protected from any punches. Victor is a good fighter but he is a poor score - no body kicks, knees and lack of clinch. Victor got ran over in the first round, had a good start to the second round then true Muay technique came out and he got TKO'd. Muay American vs Muay Thai.

+muaythaibetches I didn't say Victor is technically weak, but he doesn't score well, you should go on a Tony Myers seminar and then you'll agree with me. Scoring and technique is different. And I don't like to bash Americans, most of them have British ancestors. I'm just wondering why the Muay culture is weak there? Hopefully the culture within the community strengthens over there.

+THISGUY Victor doesn't fight to "score," he fights to get the KO. That's why he is such an exciting fighter and has so many passionate fans. I don't need any seminars on scoring. What a lot of people don't know is that Victor's forward style is what his Thai instructor (who wasn't even mentioned on the telecast) has been teaching for years. You either get the KO or you get KO'd yourself. Constant forward pressure. You of all people should know, every camp has their own style. Yes, he took a bunch of elbows, but he was still in the fight, and it could have gone either way. People were pissed off because the ref jumped into the middle of the action and it felt like cheap end to what could have been an amazing fight....Victor is a warrior and will only get better with more experience. There needs to be a rematch. I'm sure you at least agree with me on that?

***** Yes he is a KO fighter, I enjoy it myself I like him and I like how he fights. Yes I agree there needs to be a rematch, hopefully within a few months.

I've seen a lot of Americans crying lately, in the UK we use full Muay Thai rules, I know in USA you have events which claim to be 'full Muay thai' but in reality they score punches higher than kicks. The thing is, if the fight would of continued he would of got blood in his eye, not been able to see and then more elbows to his face and he would've been sliced up like a pizza. He was getting hugely out scored and this is nothing to do with American vs English, it's simply Muay Thai. Hope they can rematch again so McGowan beats him again. Anyway, shows the class in English Muay Thai vs American Muay Thai community, American community has been very disrespectful and English community very respectful and only kind - true Muay Thai culture.

+THISGUY Have you watched the Daniel Terry vs Paul Barber fight from this same card? Same scenario with cut on the forehead but No blood going into the eye, so the fight continued. They even duked it out for two more rounds with blood EVERYWHERE. Even if this fight was rightfully stopped, the referee intervening in the middle of a flurry while Mcgowan was stuck in the corner is very unusual. All in all, I just wish we could've seen the fight that was owed to us. BOTH fighters lost out here, but most of all the fans of Muay Thai lost out on what could've been an epic fight.
@MinotaurvsCyclops8 жыл бұрын
+june Ok, Barber had a cut in a different position, it wasn't in the exact same spot. That doctor has a degree, where's your degree? Just 'omg barber has more blood!!!'...? It's about the position. The referee has no say in stopping the fight from a cut, as soon as they see a deep cut on the forehead they have to ask the doctor. Watch Dan McGowan fight in lion fight he got cut on the LIP and it got stopped. As for stopping it 'mid-action' all I saw in the action was McGowan repeatedly land elbows and Victor hitting his guard, McGowan had a right guard throwing elbows... When you throw an elbow your face is completely protected from every sort of punch, sorry, if the referee continued to let it go, more elbows to victors head. And you say he should stop it mid action, they have to check with a doctor as soon as they see a big cut, they do this all the time at lumpinee 'mid action'.
@MinotaurvsCyclops8 жыл бұрын
+june No, only Victor lost out because him and his fans can't handle losing. There was a deep cut on his forehead, for the safety of the fighter it got stopped. Sorry we have health and safety regulations, if this didn't get stopped and something happened to Victor, the Americans would be the first jumping down the referees neck saying he should've stopped it. And in all fairness it Victor doesn't want to get cut he should protect himself. He lost the first round, had a good start to the second round and lost control and got TKO'd. Sorry to say but Daniel was technically way above him and all Victor had was his hands... Literally that's it. And hands score the least in Muay Thai, he would've had to knock him out which I can't see him doing while getting sliced up with elbows - he had 2 cuts. He's brave and good fighter but not on the same level, hope there's a rematch just to shut the whiney Americans up who can't show Muay culture - respect. Simple. ไม่เป็นไร
@MinotaurvsCyclops8 жыл бұрын
+june watch the end of the fight from corner cam, McGowan backs onto ropes keeps a tight guard and starts elbowing he then lands 5 elbows all landing, Victor throws about 4 punches all hitting the guard. You say the referee stopped it when McGowan was in the corner? No McGowan was coming out of the corner and about to clinch with Victor then the ref stopped it to check the cut, not mid action at all, lol. I've seen Thai refs check cut mid way threw a brawl, we just do it Thai style in England whereas America does it more Dutch style and favours boxing. Easy done diddly done
@MinotaurvsCyclops8 жыл бұрын
+june you should read what James France, Liam Harrison, Jompop said about it, all said was great move from Dan to throw that counter right elbow and he wasn't just swinging it but hit in the same place 5 ish times - accurate, and great timing. I mean you can argue with Muay Thai legends like those... Whereas most of Victors fans have never fought, let alone understand what was happening! Great stoppage and great work by McGowan as always.

@MinotaurvsCyclops8 жыл бұрын
5 elbows hitting him square in the face with 2 cuts isn't luck. With the way Victor and the American Muay Thai community have been disrespectful it would of been nice for it to continue so Victor could've got sliced up more - but in England we make sure we don't cause more harm than what's needed, good stoppage and bad luck Victor - hope you realise you should be more respectful in future.

+THISGUY All these English boys disrespecting Victor, it makes me sick! Vic has been a pro for two years and only fought for a year prior to that. He has good kicks, good elbows, decent clinch and decent knees. His corner man stopped the blood in three seconds. Sorry, but that was an early stoppage. Ref should have never jumped in there like that. Wait for the round to end.
@MinotaurvsCyclops8 жыл бұрын
+muaythaibetches Dan McGowan just turned 20, so what's your point? Yes Victor is a good fighter but his main strength is his hands. It means nothing at all that the corner man stopped it in 3 seconds, the corner man can't be with him while it's getting hit and rubbed in a clinch. If it wasn't deep, why stitches? I've seen no English disrespect him? I've looked all over Dan's page, I saw American Muay Thai gyms curse out English judges and referees just because they were looking out for a fighter.
@muaythaibetches8 жыл бұрын
Your brother Dan has A LOT more experience despite his young age. I've seen a lot of nasty comments being made about Victor, so I'm not sure why you think it's one-sided. I agree Victors strength are his hands, but he is not a one-dimensional fighter like you keep implying. Dan has great technique, so why would the game plan be to play Dan's game? There is a reason Victor fought that way. I think Dan is the best in his weight division, but show a little more respect for a fighter like Victor who came from nothing and has risen so fast in only 3 years
@MinotaurvsCyclops8 жыл бұрын
***** Dan isn't my brother, I hope you understand that. I can't see any nasty comments on Dan's wall about Victor, whereas I saw them all over from many friends and other gyms in America. I have respect for Victor, I have respect for anyone who gets in the ring. Hopefully a promotion is willing to put up good money so these can rematch soon, and I hope whoever wins the rematch gets the respect they deserve whether its Victor or Dan. What you have to realise is the doctor has a job to do, and if he doesn't stop a fight correctly and someone gets seriously hurt he can get in a lot of trouble. I'm not a professional doctor, but when I look at 2 cuts in a short period of time and it can be pulled open WIDE and needs stitches, then I would consider stopping it. Whether it is early or not, a doctor needs to answer that question. You have to remember, England is a very well developed country, our health and safety standards are very high, so a doctor can *not* put someone at risk. You need to ask medical professionals whether it was early or not, but I think it can be justified from the position and the amount of cuts gained in a short time. All that needs to happen is a rematch. With good judges.
