Just take a minute to think about what this one wizard has achieved on his own. Your determination and levels of endurance astound me Alan. I remember when you were telling us just how many blocks you have put in place, and just how much concrete you had mixed by hand, mind boggling stuff. If we don't see you before, you have yourself a great Christmas, and all the very best for a great New Year.

Alan, You ingenuity and determination is just inspiring! You can figure out stuff and achieve things on your own in ways other people would be clueless and struggle to achieve anything. I learn so much from watching you and you surprise and fascinate me everytime. I’ve said it before - your channel is one of the best things on KZbin and I cannot wait to see the latest. Ideas, updates and accomplishments from you. And as much as I want you to get things done and get the depot and fortress completed I also never want your content to end! Though knowing you there’s always going to be another project on the horizon! God bless you brother 🙏

You should try bolting a winch to a post that you can hook up a battery to for dragging posts over. You could possibly use it with some pulleys and snatch blocks to lift them also. I'm sure your wizard brain can figure it out!!😅

Loving the heavy timber one man construction. On the heavy beams, maybe move with a block and tackle to a hand winch bolted to the bedrock for first beam then strapped to beam for subsequent beams. You are a block and tackke subject matter expert. More setup time, but will more than double your strength. Cheers Wizard!

To say that you have peaked my interest is an absolute understatement. You’re a combination of a modern day automotive/ machine/ equipment mechanic & electrician & structural engineer & mining engineer combined with whatever other job/ work skills that you have that we haven’t seen before. I wish I lived closer to you that would just be a short drive for me to get to the fortress because I’d love to be able to help with various different fortress area projects. Your progress could be greatly magnified if there were just 3 or 4 people including yourself doing the work you’re doing. I also believe your channel is probably in the top 5 to 10 of all the channels on KZbin. Great job, content, video & thanks for taking the time to capture “your work & the fortress happenings” on video. Be careful & stay safe. Good luck & continued much success in all that you do!!!!!!

Hmm for myself ..2 2x4s screwed vertically on outside of uprights . Sling the beam on the backhoe , swing over and as delicately as poss, lower down the 2x4s . Would have save muscles and ratcheting. Then it would have been a case of a hammer to move the beam to position. But well done for manhandling those beams in !

What if you put the excavator bucket up in the air above the worksite and locked out the hydraulic cylinders so that the bucket can’t creep down and use a chain hoist to pick up those beams like a jib crane?! You may have to swing the bucket left or right occasionally to stay over the work area but it would definitely be faster.

your skills are great and you seem like a good person, but maybe someone should tell you that if you were 20 years old, maybe you would have managed to do everything you started, it seems to me that there is a good chance that someone else will finish it.tTry to finish one project at a time, this is how you start everything and finish nothing. Because at this pace you are everything every day further from the goal. I wish you a lot of health and money, given that you manage to finish everything before old age. Many greetings from Croatia!

along with the rebar pins, consider using some deck style angle brackets at the big box hardware stores. Along with some 3 inch deck screws

Hey Alan just a quick tip. If you make a couple L shapes out of some steel you can flip it upside down strap the long section to the post and the short section in the air hanging over where you want to lift. Weld on a d ring to the short section and you can attach a chain hoist. Use this all the time to set 30 ft I beams no problem.
@bushytale4344Ай бұрын
use two sets of ratchet straps on each end. when the fist strap max's out, secure position and continue lifting with the second. much easier and eliminates blocking. i used the same method to replace beams in my barn.
