I'm a 60 year old rock and roll guitarist by nature and have no desire to listen to country music. The other day I heard Tyler on my truck radio while skipping across country stations searching for rock and roll and his voice stopped me instantly. I found myself searching for this fella on the internet and now here I am posting this. Tyer has his own genre of music as far as I am concerned and God placed him on this Earth to make us all listen. His lyrics take you for a ride, thank you Mr. Childers...

I grew up about as far north as you can get and still be in the USA (with the exception of Alaska, I guess) and not had given country music much thought for most of my life. After college, I was stationed at a few of Army bases in NC, TX, and KY, but the only foray I made into country music was a little bit of blue grass here and there (courtesy of Old Crow Medicine Show) and some old Johnny Cash as a nod to my late grandfather. Then one day, a couple of years after getting out, I was sitting in a barber chair in Louisville and heard one of the best written and record songs I have ever come across. I fumbled for my phone to use shazam before it finished. It was 'Feathered Indians' and from that moment on I gained a new appreciation for what county music could be. Years later, I am back in my hometown in the Pacific Northwest and I still listed to Tyler and other contemporary country musicians who write real lyrics about real struggles, in honest soulful voices, utilizing traditional and acoustic sounds... there is something about that sound which bring me back to the beautiful landscapes of Kentucky and North Carolina... and that's something I will always appreciate.

Tyler childers turned his back on the community that he sang about by siding with blm on the breonna taylor narrative. But the truth is they were drug dealers. You can't sing about the horrors of coal countries relationship with meth but then raise money in the name of the drug dealers pushing meth and other drugs in the same community. "long violent history" my ass, pandering to the left just the same way sturgill simpson did. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I love music to the deepest depth of my soul but I don't listen to tylers music anymore. Makes me optimistic for the future of real country music and folk music. Childers has successfully combined Hank, Seeger, Guthrie, and Dylan...... I'll bet even ol' Arlo Guthrie would smile..... I love it, our music will live on...... Thank you Tyler.

I can’t say that Tyler saved me or anything like that. But I can say that he and Colter Wall have made me find my love for country music again. They undid all the damage that Sam Hunt and Keith Urban have the past 5 years

The voilin faught him the entire time. Best youtube version of feathered indians is when he plays alone. He has raw talent and doesnt need a big fancy band to help him tell his story of the hollow.
@bobbob24able6 жыл бұрын
donovan preston yeah, and to make things worse, the pedal steel and the violin are fighting each other the whole show. Only one fretless instrument onstage at a time generally, and if there’s two, they both have to be properly intonnated and know exactly what they’re doing. I think he was experimenting with his band at this point in his career. Because the pedal steel player is all over the place, ESPECIALLY in Feathered Indians. He made a mistake in the very first chorus and had to put it in there every time to make it look purposeful. Clearly threw him off, because for the rest of the song, he was totally off-put. His current band iteration doesn’t improvise and it’s a lot tighter.

@@bobbob24able Same great band and pedal steel now as in this video, only now Professor Jesse Wells is on fiddle. And yeah, they're very tight now.

I feel that he's best when it's just him and a guitar
@bobbob24able5 жыл бұрын
Cici Bradley you’re totally right. I was mistaken on his current band’s iteration. Jesse improvises every single night on the road. He’s become one of my favorite guitar players, honestly. James and Jesse play off each other so well. James has improved on the steel a great deal. I bought a pedal steel not long after making my original comment here. His playing made me finally pull the trigger on one. There’s a fantastic video of TC at Americanafest on KZbin, in case you haven’t seen it. One of the highest quality recordings of a live show I’ve ever seen. And everyone was having an on-night like crazy. Good shit. Can’t wait to catch them on the road this year.

🎶🎶🌹I actually bought a Sears and Roebuck home in New Smyrna Beach Florida. Through the Disabled American Vets. Best built home, I ever owned. When I removed the Absethos siding, beautiful wood underneath. Every room in that home had several layers of wallpaper on them, including the ceilings. I got really good at removing and drywall!! Memories. Thanks for the memories 🎶🎶🤗😜

Many songs and artists cause an “emotional response “ when you listen but Tyler is on another level, and seems to do it effortlessly. It must be real. I have listened to ‘Follow you to Virgie’ one time, and that was it. I actually cannot get through that song without breaking down. I have to skip it every time.

Oh Boy Records brought me here tonight. I've been aware of Tyler for a while but hadn't caught up to him until tonight. Yesterday I spent the day listening to John Prine, Johnny, Willie, Waylon, Chris and Merle. Now I can add Tyler to my list of necessary life support for today's insane world. I can feel the real! What a great band too. I trained as a classical violinist so the young fiddler gets a huge thank you also. Thank you all for sharing this wonderful gem.
