I missed this riff. 10 years old, 1985, best time to be alive. (That rhyme was purely unintentional.)

Absolutely love this riff. As silly as this may sound, I’m so glad I grew up during MTV’s early years. So many good times watching Headbangers Ball, Yo MTV Raps, Dial MTV, etc. with my friends.

The first quote was only used very early on. The second one (Armstrong), was the one they originally wanted to use, but couldn't get the rights for it in time. They used it in video releases, and in MTV's 10th anniversary when they temporarily brought the original Top Of The Hour back (1991).

When MTV used this ID, they played nothing but real rock and roll from real artists 24 hours a day. Back then, if you could handle rock and roll, you could handle MTV: MUSIC Television.

@@rawfacruise2482 The Amazon version left out the rocket sound, and has the "Ladies and gentleman, rock and roll." I actually prefer this version, as it was the version most played on MTV from 1981-1984. Still, it very cool that it is finally for purchase!
