Wow it's a pretty tall and nice waterfall. Bushwhacking, I've been to Gunung Bunga Buah just once and I'm one of the few in my group to wear shorts during hikes and there's a section of Bunga Buah where we have to walk through tall grass. Well the grass there have rather sharp edges that micro cuts the legs, makes me remind myself to wear long bushwhacking pants or long leggings next time I hike haha.

You're welcome. Oh by the way have you been to Taman Negara's Gua Kepayang? There are many differences to hiking in the Highlands, starting with the humidity and heat. The highest point in the whole 'hike' to Gua Kepayang is only around 100 metres and despite a shower at jetty before our morning start the humidity is oppressive. Due to miscommunication or misunderstanding my friends got the impression that it was an easy 6km hike (that's why I was persuaded to make up the numbers) but it turned out to be 10km due to detours to the original track due to landslides. Also almost everyone brought along less than 10 liters packs only to discover we each had to carry 3 litres or so of water, canned food, vegetables etc so we tied them to our tiny packs. In 2022 after the Covid reopening I was hardly fit so I was slow till one of my fell hikers volunteered to take my pack. The guide frog marched me in the front and later I found out that the one who took my pack collapsed twice along the trail, our expedition had 10 members. The best part was the elephant dungs along the track, lots of it some were blackened residual grass some had green shoots of grass in it. Also mind blowing that the elephants could climb the steep slope littered with large rocks up to a smaller cave before Gua Kepayang. When we in Kepayang itself the guide kept a fire going to keep the elephants from entering the cave, sure enough the next morning we found fresh elephant footprints outside the cave entrance. You should try it if you haven't gone there.

@klloo5689 Gua Kepayang is in my bucket list 🥰 already planned and have all the details, just need to pack and go 2 years ago after the caving in Merapoh, but then monsoon seasons kicked in couldn’t make up the numbers, chasing waterfalls, just started new job, trying to tick the G7 list and forgotten about it 😅 And wow! What an experience to Gua Kepayang, camping & campfire 🔥 in the cave! The tour operator mentioned we need to carry 3L of water + ration, hike about 8km to the cave and is quite strenuous 🥲 Thanks for reminding 🦋 will attempt Gua Kepayang soon!

Hi again. Oh I forgot to mention that there's lots of leeches in this area especially on the 2nd day from Gua Kepayang to the boat pick up point, wherever we stopped to rest or cook a meal they'd be there and coming towards you. Worst part is I decided to sit and soak in a light brownish water river and despite being chest high in the water for 15 or 20 mins there were still some leeches attached to my submerged legs, I don't know if they were the leeches before I got into the water or they were new ones in the water. I didn't know they can breathe underwater. Advisable not to wear shorts to hike in Kepayang and bring the usual anti leech arsenal.
