You must be "super high" with 3 big cups of coffee and one pot of Pu-Er in one morning. Sweet Char Kway Teow is like those in SG, it is a no go for me. The laksa looks very good, I will try it when I go walk-walk in Muar next week. And also ta-pow a lot of otak back home.

@@ultimatewarrior4630 After watching 2 videos of Muar, I think it is worth a day trip only. Go in for breakfast and leave after lunch. Sweet otak CKT, wanton noodle, fried carrot cake, "or chien" and snakehead (toman fish) fish beehoon are quite normal and some even below par when compared to other cities.

If you pronounce 馬碲 as 馬睇， it literally stands for chestnuts. Hence, the proper Cantonese pronunciation of horseshoes should be 馬提· 豬橫脷 is the pig’s pancreas. It’s somehow not a commonly served innard due to its fishy smell. Yes, it’s unkind to leave Segamat out, since it’s merely a stone’s throw from Muar. There are lots of unpretentious stalls serving decent Chinese staples. I was posted there 20 years ago. The noisy flock of birds are known as Starling, which are neither predatory birds nor pests. In fact, these birds are predominantly fruit eaters. They are adaptable thus able to live in close association with human. That’s why they are spotted in the town centre of Muar.

@@Nick_catmanyou’re right, it’s not the pancreas but spleen . The pancreas is normally harvested for its medicinal properties while the spleen is commonly used as an ingredient in Cantonese cuisine. The shape of the spleen that resembles the tongue gives rise to its Cantonese term 脷。 橫is added owing to that visceral organ being horizontally positioned.
