And every deck with it has the same problem. Whenever you don't have Heartless Summoning, you die before you can start casting your 5 and 6 drops. You're playing ramp with only one ramp spell in the deck.

9:15 Technically it was 21 hits, which is 5% miss rate. Basically you rolled a natural 1. EDIT: Byan Tan points out that only 18 of those 21 are useful hits, so the miss rate is more like 8%. Basically you rolled a natural 1 ...on a d12, that is.

anaphysik Not even 21 hits. Heartless Summonings count as misses because he can’t play copies beyond the first (few cards benefit from the second copy and it disables Fotd) 18 hits total

Etron match 52:31 you played lands backwards. should have done ghost quarter. tapped swamp an quarter for heartless, green for azusa, then verdant for excavator then land from yard for dryad. slowed you down one whole turn but still worked out

Endstep at 19:15 you should have drawn off of Peatland. You have excavator so it’s still guaranteed prime time unless they just drew pretty much exactly lighting axe (which would be a 2 for 1 on a 2/3. And if you draw an untapped land, you still get to prime time even if all that happens

Problem with assuming any deck is a specific "tier level" is subjective, therefore interpreting what is "good" and "great" gets difficult. What is tier 1 to you might be tier 2 to another player, anecdotally.

Yes a 53:00 the punt was as big as you thought. Play Heartless Summoning of the Ghost Quarter + Swamp, Fetch with Catacombs for a Forest, play Azusa and Excavator for {G} each. Proceed to unload

At 53:39 the play Line that gets the most value is to: Heartless summoning, verdant into Azusa. GQ your own forest to play Ramunap. Play forest from GY play Dryad. Play GQ and second Ramunap This is bordering on Lands and i can get behind it.

Find myself wondering whether the rot farms would be better turned into more overgrown tombs? Seth was consistently running short of fetchable lands, and there were a couple of times the rot farms were slowing down the early game.

At 52.33 if you would of played Ghost Quarter, used the Swamp and Quarter to play Heartless Summoning, cast Azusa, Lost but Seeking with the Forest, played Verdant Catacombs search a Forest, cast Ramunap Escavator, play verdant from the grave fetch a Forest, play Dryad of the Ilysian Grove and play a Land from grave you would of done what you though you couldn't have done. The fault i you logic was that you played the Land in the wrong order Leaving up a Colorless instead of Green even so it was passible to tapped in a way to leave up green. Still no dread presence but 2 more spells cast.

Ohh, I do sort of like that idea. It's going to be awkward early in the game, but later in the game it seems like a great tutor target for Primeval Titan to copy Valakut or Field of the Dead. I might try one next time I play it.

@@MTGGoldfish that's the definition of win-more. Completely unnecessary... Don't get me wrong though. It's an awesome deck. Sadly it's 750 bugs for a fun take on a tier 1 archetype. The only card I'd swap is the Explore. Okay, it makes additional land drops - but with no interaction on turn 2 and it jumps you from 2 to 4 mana. All the early creatures are 3cmc, so there is really no point?! Rather play some more interaction or a creature your opponent needs to react to

Heartless Summoning has always been an amazing card but still suffers from being the only card that does anything like what it does. This makes any deck that builds around it really inconsistent, since the build around aspect means you want to be playing 3+ cmc (tending to 4 and 5) cards in the rest of the deck.

So what you wanted to do on turn 3 of the first game vs ETron is: Play GQ, tap it and swamp for summoning. Play azusa off forest, play fetch, get green mana, play excavator. 1 land left. Play fetch, get green again, play druid, play fetch again and leave it in play. Then you can play dread presence before your land next turn and drain them for 18 assuming you have the fecthables. You have the fetched land from the one in play plus 4 plays of fetch into real land. So as long as were assuming they dont interact like they didnt in reality, you can get a kill without even needing to draw a titan.

i think once u've mulled to 3 or 4 it might be correct to continue to mulligan until you get the first leyline because your odds of winning are already so low, and it's the only one card that can make a difference and buy time

Yeah, at a certain point we're sort of pot committed to going all the way. We aren't going to beat Dredge with a 3-4 card non-Leyline hand anyway, so there's not much downside to keep going at that point.
