Been piloting this deck since Prerelease. Dryad Arbor just isnt worth it. This deck really enjoys a 1 of Huatli's Raptor as a 2 drop 2/3 (3/4 with neoform) with vigilance that proliferates your board (including itself making it a 4/5 if you neoformed it). It alone has won me several games Also of note as a nice include is a one of Groundbreaker (Green Ball Lightning) for that extra push. He almost always evolves everything on board, double evolving pelt collector when he dies. Comes out as a 7/2 hasty trample with neoform and will usually let you get that extra push to finish off the opponent. My favorite win was with him. Had 2 voice tokens against Izzet Phoenix with 2 flipped Thing in the Ice's. I was at 2 life to his 15. Played strangleroot > Neoform > Groundbreaker. Had 2 4/4 voice tokens, a 3/2 hasty strangleroot, and a 7/2 hasty groundbreaker to deal 18 damage in a single turn to win an almost definite loss otherwise.

A Ranger-Captain of Eos might be a cool card to try. Neoform a strangleroot get ranger to get whatever you need, maybe run some one of utility creatures in the sideboard. Dryad Militant comes to mind, maybe a hexdrinker if you’re flooded. Or just get the value of getting more of your 1 drops.

The manabase in this deck makes me angry. 4 basic lands should be the absolute minimum for modern these days. You with your love of Blood Moons should know the most. I know you're trying to have fast aggro games, but from all the games you got Path to exiled, Settled, Blood Mooned and Strip Mined by Ghost Quarters and Field of Ruins. When Modern Horizons becomes legal I'm ready for greedy people killing themselves with their manabases.

I know this is pretty budget except the mana and voices, is there a possibility for a ultrabudget version, I’m brewing my own but I’d like to see one from a noncasual
@Kechlivecek5 жыл бұрын
I think you can go more budget if you cut White, though you would need to find good replacements for White cards. It would cut Voices and make you mana base a lot nicer and cheaper. I like this deck and was thinking whether there are any new Modern Horizons cards that could improve it. For more aggresive build, you might use some pumps (I'm thinking the new Scale Up, which can do up to 6 more damage (if played on Raptor) and can help you with Overloading if both players don't want to attack, or something that also grants protection like Blossoming Defense of Vines of Vastwood), else I am not sure. I thought Crashing Footfalls might have been good as your creature-power topper, but we already have so many one-drops there probably wouldn't be time to play it (if you lose your T1 Raptor/Experiment/Collector, you have to play them T2 into another one-drop, T3 you would probably need to play your 2-drops and it feels like it's too slow; Footfalls tokens also don't have haste, so T5 4/4s unable to attack might not be good enough), although even if we had a space to play it, it probably wouldn't be a good late game draw.
Seth, probably better known as Saffron Olive, I have a suggestion I've rarely if ever seen you use. You could be a bit more aggressive when attacking and having pognify/rapid hybridization in hand. For instance, opponent had Scavenging Ooze out with Liliana at 1 counter. You had 2 creatures on board. Could have attacked into Lili with both, and pog the ooze once he declares blocks to save both your creatures, kill the lili, and get rid of the ooze. Sure, you get hit for 3 on the back swing, but your overall board state in most cases (especially with them at empty hand) goes way up.

@mawouel96065 жыл бұрын
Well this isn't standard. Explore in modern is extremely slow and you still don't have anything to do with the extra lands in your hand. Two actual solutions would be : play a one of tireless tracker so you can neoform it and get value from a land heavy hand. So to me... the more lands I start with, my logic tells me "Less lands I'll draw into"
@leekyonion5 жыл бұрын
Because it's not fast enough and you essentially gamble on drawing your pieces. ESPECIALLY in such a combo dependent deck like renimator
@leekyonion5 жыл бұрын
Whiffing on draws for 3 major pieces can hurt. 1. Goryo's/Breach 2. Discard/Cantrips/Filters 3. Your key monsters in the graveyard Literally too many conditions to be having that many lands
@MTGGoldfish5 жыл бұрын
This deck only really wants three lands, so starting with five is pretty close to the same as mulliganing to five (since we have two lands that are basically dead cards). We were also against a really fast combo deck, so to have any chance we either need a graveyard hate card or a fast start to try to race, five lands doesn't really help with either plan.
@SparTadepT5 жыл бұрын
8 lands out of 19 after seeing 20 cards, is not *that* unlikely in game 1. ~25% I assume his other card in hand was another goryo's, trying to hit Grisselbrand off the Borbor mill to draw 7 and then finish you with lands drawn, and just got there off the desperation night's whisper.

@Ygo1ohcysP5 жыл бұрын
It is because the grishoalbrand deck usually wins the turn it goes off or sets it’s self up to win the next turn and the deputy would not have mattered because the demon would be sacrificed to the Goryo’s vengeance trigger.
