Thanks for feeding back buddy but I do disagree and here's why: A big success of the show is the long format stories. Willy and mainly Paddy are storytellers and the art of that is being able to control the excitement through things like dynamics. Which is why early on we decided against the traditional, heavily limited SM7B right in their face and go with them wee condensers that pick up more of the softer spoken parts and have higher sensitivity, meaning less noise. To counteract that we lightly compress in-line to the recording through the preamp. In post the audio is put through a chain of de-essers, dynamic eq, compressor and limiter before being added to the video where it's limited to broadcast level and mastered. If I could add a photo I would have shown you the waveform when it comes out, it's quite flat with no spiky transients. But it's still intended to allow some of the softer parts of the story to stay quieter to make the funnier parts of the story have more impact.

It's just not aggressive enough for my liking I suppose, most of it's fine, wish I could be arsed to grab the timestamps but theres numerous times in this ep where Paddys leaning back from the mic speaking quietly while Willy is speaking normally close enough to the mic where I assume the waveform can't be that uniform, but sure I'm talking shite anyway, I've started putting every pod through a limiter with very low threshold, so every cunt sounds like Howard Stern now 🤣
