But let's assume it wasn't Abubakar in cave with the Prophet, what fundamental principle has it changed in Islam? It is just a suggestion of another way of viewing the issue. It has nothing to do with importance of Guided caliph. But once there is an established meaning some people are just reluctant to give a thought for anything different from the traditional. The interpretation does no damage at all to the foundation of Islam. Also if you miss the premise of an argument, your criticism cannot reasonable.
