One of the funny things that I notice in your,and other’s videos,are the things that you do not take! As a person less than a month away from walking Thames mud,I would have taken that broken torpedo bottle! But that’s why you leave them,for rookies like me to find later on! And I thank you for that! Yeah Nicola’s Roman finds we’re shocking,AND,think about it,the theory that they may be burial items means that a proper archaeological effort could take place. Crazy!

The big wooden button appears to be an old riggers "deadeye", used in multiple pairs, upper and lower, and port and starboard, to tighten the masts lateral standing rigging. The groove around the edge is for the shroud line to wrap around it. The three small holes are used to tighten or loosen the pair. The big central hole is unusual. Early 20th century, methinks. Replaced mostly by modern metal turnbuckles.

I found a few on a 1867 shipwreck that have leather attached an numbers stamped on the pulley.

The wood “donut” is a cutless bearing. Its supports the shaft (that holds the propeller) and goes through the stern of a vessel. It is made from lignum vitae a rare hard wood that keeps the shaft naturally lubricated.
