I’m a revert Alhamdullilah, I am still learning to pray. I am having so much trouble learning. I can’t pronounce many Arabic words. (I’m trying) but can I pray Istikhara in English? Is that allowed? I need guidance for many things. I want my iman to grow and I am having a big problem in my life and need understanding and help making a major decision. English is ALLOWED but u have to learn Arabic it takes time trust me I was practicing at work had the prayer pinned up at my station so I can look up and read it I listened to it that might help u

Mufti Menk said that Istikhara is performed when someone doesnt know what to do this contradicts what other scholars say. Salah Istikhara is prayed for example you want to marry. You know you want to marry someone so you know what to do, but we ask allah to make it easy for us if it is good for us. And if it is bad for us he makes it hard and starts blocking the path towards it. So it is not performed if someone doenst know what to do, but when someone needs to make a decision and allah will guide us in that decision. In the Dua Istikhara we ask allah to make it easy for us when it is good for us and if it is bad for us he will make it very hard. Can someone with knowlegde reply and substantiate the argument? Hello. Sheikh Mink said that the sunna is for the person involved to do the istikhara. You can make dua or supplication on their behalf that they reach the correct decision. May Allah make them reach the right decision in the path of iman.

Listed below is the process. Try do this after esha and go straight to bed. Avoid chatting to people so you have a clear mind. METHOD OF ISTIKHAARAH When making Istikhaarah begin with performing two Rakaats Nafl Salaat. Then with all sincerity recite the following Du’a. Allaahumma innee astakheeruka bi ilmika wa-astaqdiruka biqudratika wa-as’aluka min fadhlika al-adheem. Fa innaka taqdiru walaa aqdiru. Wa ta’lamu walaa a’alamu wa anta allaamul ghuyoob. Allaahumma in kunta ta’lamu anna haadhal-amr khayrun liy fiy deeniy wa-ma’aashiy wa-aaqibat amriy, fa’qdruhliy wa-yassirh liy thumma baarik liy feehi. Wa in-kunta ta’lamu anna haadhal amr sharrun liy fiy deeniy wa-ma’aashiy was-‘aaqibat amriy. Fa asrifh annee wa-srif ‘anhu. Wa aqdurh liyal khayr hayth kaana thumma a-rdhiniy bihee Trans: O Allah!! Behold I ask You the good through Your Knowledge, and ability through Your Power, and beg (Your favour) out of Your infinite Bounty. For surely You have Power; I have none. You know all; I know not. You are the Great Knower of all things. O Allah! If in Your Knowledge this matter be good for my faith (Deen), for my livelihood, and for the consequences of my affairs, then ordain it for me, and make it easy for me, and bless me therein. But if in Your Knowledge, this matter be bad for my faith (Deen) for my livelihood, and for the consequences of my affairs, then turn it away from me, and turn me away therefrom, and ordain for me the good wherever it be, and cause me to be pleased therewith. While reciting this Du’aa when one reaches HAADHAL AMR (THIS MATTER) at both places he should think of his problem. May Allah guide and assist us all, Aameen.

Assalamu alaikum, I haven't performed istikara before, as I wasn't confused about a certain matter in the past (marriage) but the person I wanted to marry didn't want to continue due to family disagreements. I am finding it hard to move on and look into other potentials. Should I do istikara to seek Allah's help and guidance? I don't know if I want to get married anymore, he broke my heart. Alhamdulillah it's made me focus on religion more but I want to forget him. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. Have you ever thought about Allah protecting you from what’s to come even after you married him? Idk I just thought about that for a bit and also don’t give up hope or lose interest in marriage because of him. I know you loved him but just pray to Allah to grant you what’s Best for you. If you look deeper there’s no punishment tbh. It’s like training you to be stronger and training you to be closer to Allah. Allah did not create us to punish us, he shows his love to us daily we just fail to notice. Whatever you’re going through, you’ll get through it. He has given you the power to do that. Sarah Dunn This is what i found few weeks ago, not sure if it's authentic or not.. Hoping someone with knowledge will be able to confirm it: “O Allah, I consult You as You are All-Knowing and I appeal to You to give me power as You are Omnipotent, I ask You for Your great favor, for You have power and I do not, and You know all of the hidden matters . O Allah ! If you know that this matter (then the person reciting the du’a should mention the matter for which he is seeking Allah’s Guidance) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and for my life in the Hereafter, (or he said: ‘for my present and future life,’) then make it (easy) for me. And if you know that this matter is not good for me in my religion, my livelihood and my life in the Hereafter, (or he said: ‘for my present and future life,’) then keep it away from me and take me away from it and choose what is good for me wherever it is and please me with it.” The following hadith (referred above in Fiqh-us-Sunnah) is narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah about Salat-ul-Istikhara in Sahih Bukhari (volume 2, hadith number 263 and again volume 9, hadith 487): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to teach us the way of doing Istikhara (Istikhara means to ask Allah to guide one to the right sort of action concerning any job or a deed), in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the Quran. He said, “If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a two Rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer): ‘Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi’ilmika, Wa astaqdiruka bi-qudratika, Wa asaluka min fadlika al-‘azim Fa-innaka taqdiru Wala aqdiru, Wa ta’lamu Wala a’lamu, Wa anta ‘allamu l-ghuyub. Dear God, if You know that this decision [mention decision here] is good for me in terms of my religiosity, my worldly life, and afterlife, then decree it, facilitate it for me with ease, and bless me through it. But if You know that this has bad consequences on my religiosity, my worldly life, and afterlife, then get it away from me and get me away from it, and [instead of that] decree what’s better for me, whatever it may be, and make me content with it.
