Mufti Sahab I'm very sorry to say that you have a totally biased perspective towards the issue, I didn't want to comment without listening to you at length and I understand that nowhere u mean to say that it's alright to hit your wife, but the problem starts from the point that you don't consider the pov of women at all, your entire conversation is centred around men's perspective and choices... Either you are living in oblivion or are totally ignorant of the fact that our society has such a painful and dark reality of torcher and abuse of women at the hands of inlaws and husbads, I was disgusted to hear such derogatory words from a person of your stature that if a woman slaps her man back then he will treat her merely as a sex object.. This is so low of you sir, and what about sensitive women around us, who usually give the marriage their all, compromising here and there, yet gets beaten and abused, what do you think women don't have hearts?Allah has made them emotionless? wouldn't they consider their abusive husbands as mere sex objects, I wish you could have chosen better words, rather than desnesitizing the graving issue of domestic violence, spread the message of tolerance, respect and love in marriage, cite the example of our prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h who cared for his wives as for none, who taught the way of living a blissful married life, Islam doesn't authorize the unnecessary interference of MILs and other inlaws in a woman's life, rather it advocates her right to live peacefully and if you choose to ignore the ground reality of our south asian society, where women have been subjected to toxic, patriarchal and insensitive norms and practices for centuries then I feel really sorry for you, Such practices give them a life full of stress and ultimately leads them to lose their sense of belonging and years later when they take the charge of a MIL, the same opperesed woman becomes a tyrant and authoritarian herself, becuase all her life she never gets the due love and is controlled extensively so she finds a chance to live a life where now she can treat the newcomer the same way once she was treated because that's what she has seen all her life... I would request you to show some compassion and encourage both men and women around to be respectful and loving towards each other and people around them, because marriage is no joke and it requires efforts from both partners to make it long lasting and blissful, but your problem is that you expect everything from women yet don't cobsider thier pov, and I don't understand why you always highlight financial dependence of women on their husbands, there are many women who are financially independent and many who are dependent on their husbands, but remember that women take care of the household forever without any break, professional gets days off, leaves and ultimately retire, but a woman running a household does it for life without any expectation and credit... I would highly suggest you to increase your awareness and sensitivity towards the hrad hitting realities of society we live in...

With due respect to Mufti Sb, the clip is not without a context. The mother in question and her sister-in-laws have been mistreating the said wife since her wedding day. Heaven lies beneath the feet of you mother but wife also has her rights and you can't mistreat one to please another. This is not Islam, period. The wife should not have responded with a slap, but asked for separation straightaway. She's someone's sister, daughter too.

Mufti Sahab your lecture is good but in our culture boys and girls should be taught the Sunnah way of life. Men should be taught to behave with women as per Sunnah. Only this will bring peace. Boys are taught they can do anything with the title of husband. This is wrong. Prophet Muhammad salallahu wa'alalihi wassalam in last Kutba told men to be afraid of Allah in case of their wives.
