Interesting comment from the anchor man at the end; on paper these two men had nothing in common...... but there was a chemistry between them. My guess is that Cosell knew he was able to ask Ali questions that others wouldn't and Ali was happy to oblige in answering them.

I cant get enough of these two together. You know...alot of ppl say Ali was racist...i really dont think he was. I think he judged everyone based on an individual basis. if he saw things that were racist....he stated it. But if ppl treated him with respect...he gave it back. and thats the way it should be.

Muhammad Ali was a modern day gladiator both in the ring and in life. He gave more than he took. He stood up for principles like courage and for social justice and for the conviction of his beliefs. He cared for the oppressed and for those on the losing end of life. He made a difference. In one way it can be said that Muhammad Ali won his final battle with death because the remarkable and distinguished record of his life will live after him. And those who love him will remember him. And his legend will survive long after the grave. And that is precisely how he delivered his knock-out punch to death. For me, he remains the undisputed champion in life and in death. I will miss him dearly. Peace to his family. And most of all to Muhammad Ali.

You got a bit maudlin there... a bit over-emotional... but you've saved me writing it. I respect Ali and the banter between these 2 is just smile making. 🙂 Ali always used to touch & play with the front of Howards hair-piece, he once went to touch this fringe and hesitated asking "will it bite?" 😉 That banter between people is pretty life-afirming. We all enjoy jokes & laughter. 👍

They both were such a part of the sixtes Muhammad Ali gave up everything at the height of his career truly one of the most amazing things in sports history and civil rights. His best years. Omg. It’s fascinating to speculate how such a man like ALI could exist. Imagine a man possessing so many strong qualities all at once, A man who was an iconic historic and record-breaking sports figure, strong moral principles, physically gorgeous and stunningly handsome, warmhearted towards the common man and the down-trotten, humanitarian at a global scale, ability to be serious with a tremendous depth, using words with a lot of weight accordingly and can maneuver difficult conversations well, when in company with others he was known for always being light in spirit // joyous and humorous. He was superbly intelligent verbally, funny and witty on the spot, offered to teach poetry and Harvard even though he left high-school being considered illiterate, creative poetically and bringing verbal artistry to a field where-in it had never been imagined to be used. He ignited passion new life to the sport of boxing, invented new techniques and style to boxing. He was a humble despite being one of the wealthiest and most famous in the world, always seeing eye to eye with anyone he met no matter their status -- HIS CONFIDNECE, TRUST AND BELIEF IN HIMSELF -!!!!! what a breath of fresh air ! Just to hear someone so comfortable speaking so well about himself without it sounding annoying? Who can pull that off, but him? So many have low self worth today, seeing no light whatsoever within themselves… I’m sure anybody can agree, we all feel so uplifted when we observe how he carries himself so well. ALI ❤ A man of action, a man of his word, a man with a strong, warm heart, a man fiercely bold and brave - a man full of love and sincerity
