Muhammad Yunus has sworn-in as the leader of the interim Government of Bangladesh on August 08, 2024. A week earlier, He was in Paris for the Olympic Games. From there, Muhammad Yunus talked with India Today's Global.
In an exclusive interview with India Today's Global Affairs Editor Geeta Mohan, Nobel Laureate Yunus shared his insights on the recent anti-reservation protests in Bangladesh. The second phase of the protests, which began on August 04, 2024, were sparked by student opposition to the 56 percent reservation in government jobs. The situation escalated when the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, attacked the protesters, leading to widespread violence.

Hasina's government often used to say in the media, 'Modi will remember for life what I have done for India. The Indian government was well aware that the Hasina government had seized power by force, yet all of Hasina's misdeeds were supported by the Modi government. That's why the young generation harbors anti-India sentiment. Even in the past 15 years, thousands of Bangladeshis have been killed at the border. One notable case was a girl named Felani, who was killed and left hanging on the border fence, which sparked a lot of criticism. A BUET student criticized India's Teesta agreement on Facebook, and Hasina's thugs beat him to death. All these incidents have fostered anti-India sentiments among the people.

@@ashiqueikbalaliahmed7291first get the proper knowledge regarding Indian reservation. SC/ST reservation is based on inequality in the society. To balance it out, there's a provision of reservation. It's not for economically weakness. If someone is poor, they can come under EWS category. In the same way, people with disabilities come under handicapped quota. You can face discrimination inspite of being rich and there are many incidents you can easily search on Google with key words.

Question is why inspite of taking quota order back, still the movement proceeded?? Who provided money?? Who gradually hijacked the student movement and led it on their way?? Is there any foreign country involved and was not happy with the then hasina govt?? Time will provide answer but its a very crucial time for bangladesh. If it goes with all including minority then gradually they will have cover up all losses but if it chooses to go with extremist then they will suffer like pakistan and will be kicked off by rest of world.
