This is exactly the point, people think their's a particular thing they have to learn and then they can call themselves "hacker". cyber security is a diverse field and you have to have a strong background in Networking, Computer Science, Programming, Cyber security laws and policies, and in general an understanding of human psychology (for Social Engineering). Some of these skills may or may not be relevant to your Job role but knowing them will always help you. In general hacking is simply the process of making a system do something it is not supposed do, that's how the attacker thinks and to counter him you have to think exactly like him but stay a step ahead of him. conclusion: Don't look for shortcuts, work on basics (first priciples), and always remember an attacker will have a thousand chances but you'll only have one so be ready and be useful to your organization.
