Curious as to what train sim the 3D models came from, and did they require any sort of translation or other modification to insert them into GTA5?

Honestly, i've no idea where the models came from, yes it's a GTA 5 mod called "Kitsune Trains 7.3"

@@RAYSGT I looked up the mod and read through the update notes. I noticed that the Version 7 update gives you the ability to ride a train to and from North Yanktown. I wonder where that connects to the existing map. I take it from the mod notes that the actual route taken by the train is up to the mod creator and not the end user, so now I wonder if anyone has designed a route that detours freight trains into and out of the tram line since at least those allow you to return to your starting point without janky improvised balloon tracks like the ones at the end of the docks.

Well, about the "the ability to ride to and from North Yankton" all it does is it'll teleport you from one of the stations in LS into the North Yankton and the trains will spawn there. The janky tracks came from a mod called "New railroad route in Los Santos 1.0", i've combined it together with another mod "Freight Train Extended - East LS 2.0" that's why you can see other trains sharing some of the railroads.

This is a cool mod. Incidentally I was in Los Angeles (the real Los Santos) and I caught a UP freight running along the river bed.

it would be cool if someone made a working and realistic signal mod so you don't almost crash into another train like when you had to back up cause that BNSF train almost hit you.

The thing that I actually want to ask is why thee train look like it's going off of the tracks when it turns but the wheels like it like moves around but the train doesn't

Because it's a mod and the trains weren't supposed to turn at such tight turns
