i dont understand how i can just cry for hussain, and all my wordly sins will be forgiven and jannah is for me? im not sure that is what imam hussain a.s wanted to teach us? that we should cry for me? i could cry for him, and i have, and apart from being emotionally connected to imam in the moment it doesnt change who you are or how you live your life? can someone who knows explain this?

Salaams, crying for Imam Hussein (as) is a means of forgiveness. It is not automatic. You go on a journey. Why did He do what he did? How did he suffer and still have faith in God. Increase of intellect, strengthening of the heart, affection, forgiveness of sins, manifestation of hidden blessings, lifting of trials and tribulations… when you establish your connection with Imam Hussein. ‘Ibraa’ in Arabic means lesson. ‘Abraa’ means when water crosses over, like a river. ‘Ibraa’ can also mean to hear a story that touches you so much that tears cross over. It moves a person the more they realise Imam Hussein (as). Then the tears start to flow, and what better gift than the expedition of your sins like a new born (when they roll down your cheeks).

@@RideOrDie19 im not against crying, its an expression of deep seated feelings and emotions for the Imam and expression of understanding his greatness and depth of connection to God. Im just saying people talk about all of this crying and getting forgiven like its the only thing hussain came for. Its about much more than just crying to have ur sins forgiven. He came to elevate our humanity and have us reach for the highest levels of love and connection to God. thats why i feel like the level of discourse around our imams is all very reductive - and the level of spirituality/spiritual knowledge is worse than its ever been because all people wanna talk about is how ul get forgiven if u cry for hussain. How about how I can learn from hussain to control my mind and wake up in the morning ready to sieze the day, to show courage when dealing with internal insecurities/anxieties or difficult thoughts and emotions. About revealing the secrets of God and Man in a certain way and analysing that intellectually.

@@thebrotherhood1675 sure I get you, but the first days of Muharram are very specific - you have the holy month of Ramadan to discuss the topics you have raised. We have Thursday nights or workshops - first 10 days are specific.

@@iqinnovative4886 well its got nothing to do with ramadhan, Muharram is exactly the month we should talk about who the Imam was and how we can be more Godly when actually learning about what the imam was telling us or how he talked to God and lived his life itself goes back to the point of are we just sitting around crying and mourning for 10 days or are we actually trying to understand our religion/God based on the above

@@thebrotherhood1675 I think you will find the lectures are on how the Imām was and Marifah of the Imams in light of the 10 days of Muharram. Also you will find that the 10 days of Muharram are in fact specifically for mourning of the Imām. If that wasn’t the case then Imām ali b. Musa al Rida wouldn’t have instructed rayan ibn shabeeb to mourn the 10 days. I think there is a time and place for every conversation and if you go through these 10 lectures you will find enough there to better yourself if you want to learn.
