Muharram Mein 3 Waqat Mein Quran Parhna Mana Hai | Dr. Farhat Hashmi
The Claim That Reciting the Quran is Prohibited at Three Times During Muharram
There is a misconception among some Muslims that reciting the Quran is prohibited at three specific times during the month of Muharram:
During the time of Zuhr (midday) prayer: This belief is based on the notion that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once entered the masjid while people were reciting the Quran loudly and asked them to stop until he had performed his Zuhr prayer. However, this incident is not attributed to a specific dislike of Quran recitation at that time but rather to the Prophet's (PBUH) desire to establish the proper order for performing actions in the masjid.
During the time of Asr (afternoon) prayer: The prohibition is linked to the belief that this was the time when Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred at the Battle of Karbala. While it is understandable to feel grief and sorrow during this time, there is no basis in Islamic teachings for restricting Quran recitation at this specific hour.
During the time of Maghrib (sunset) prayer: This belief stems from the idea that reciting the Quran at this time might interfere with the preparation for Maghrib prayer. However, there is no evidence to suggest that the Prophet (PBUH) or his companions ever discouraged Quran recitation during this time frame.
Clarification from Islamic Scholars:
Renowned Islamic scholars have emphasized that there is no Quranic or hadith-based prohibition against reciting the Quran at any particular time during Muharram. In fact, they encourage Muslims to continue their Quran recitation throughout the month, seeking blessings and guidance from Allah (SWT).
Significance of Reciting Quran in Muharram:
Muharram is a time for spiritual reflection, remembrance, and seeking Allah's (SWT) mercy. Reciting the Quran during this month holds immense significance, as it allows individuals to:
Connect with Allah (SWT): Immersing oneself in the words of the Quran deepens one's connection with Allah (SWT), fostering a sense of peace and tranquility.
Seek Guidance and Forgiveness: The Quran serves as a guide for Muslims, providing direction and inspiration during challenging times. Seeking forgiveness and seeking Allah's (SWT) guidance through Quran recitation can bring solace and spiritual renewal.
Gain Rewards and Blessings: Reciting the Quran is a meritorious act, and the rewards for doing so are multiplied during times of increased devotion, such as Muharram
