Mukhiyas' Climate Meet

At a recent meet - the Conference of Panchayats - held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, nearly a 100 village mukhiyas (Sarpanch) gathered to discuss the climate challenges they face in farming, and the road ahead. Organised by the Policy and Development Advisory Group (PDAG) and Asar, the mukhiyas' climate summit is modelled on the global climate summit - the Conference of Parties - that brings together world leaders. But here, in Ranchi, voices from the grassroots, of people who suffer the worst impact of climate change, were the focus area. This event was the culmination of meetings being held for the past two years in Jharkhand by PDAG and Asar to involve local leaders in climate dialogue and discuss the way forward with them.
